We are in the process of planning an upcoming trip to Disney :yay: and would like some help/suggestions?

Our dd's are looking forward to spending a day at Universal Studios. We are staying at an ALL Stars Hotel and was wondering if anyone remembers what the cost of the one day excursion with Mears would be? I went on the Mears website and they have absolutely no info available. Before we get their hopes up about going, we would like to be able to come up with a price first.

Any one recently check into a Mears bus from the hotel to Universal Studio's.

Thanks for your help!

depending on the size of your party, it might be cheaper to rent a car and yes, pay the parking too. There are car rental agencies in the lobby's of some of the DTD hotels. You can easily walk to them from the DTD bus stop.
I also think there is a city bus that can be taken... here is their link

so if Mears does turn out to be too expensive, there is still hope :goodvibes

The taxi fare would be about 32.00 + tip. Depending on your dates, you can rent a car from the Disney Car Care center for about $40 for the day. They'll come and pick you up at the resort.

Don't forget to look at the costs of a one day Universal ticket for everyone too. Especially compared to the negligable amount it would be to add a day to your WDW ticket....it always works out to be way too expensive to do a 1 day Universal trip for us.

You can also get a 2 day 2 park Universal ticket for $99! That's a bargain!!!

Check the Universal website. Last week I saw something about a special where they'll pick you and up and return you to Disney.

I thought you could get a 7 day pass for that price, did that promotion end?

I thought it was 7 days too...

I know FL residents can get the remainder of the year for $99... unlimited visits and no blackout dates... if anyone can use that tip :thumbsup2

I went on the Mears website and they have absolutely no info available.

The Mears info to other attractions is right on their website: go to www.mearstransportation.com, point your cursor at the "Services" header along the top bar, click on "Attraction Transportation" on the drop down list. On the right side under "Quick List", click "2009 Rates PDF". From Zone 4 (Disney) to Universal shows as $18 per person round trip(Not sure if kids are cheaper).

don't use city bus/ I Drive Trolly unless it's 1 or 2 of you definitly not worth the time and this is comming from a devote public transportation user Mears shuttle is great but as others have said it maybe cheaper 2 rent a car and pay for parking especially if there are more then 4 people, maybe town car service if you have a larger group and driving is not an option.

You can get a week pass or a two day pass for about the same price. Either one is a good bargain, it just depends on how much time you want to devote. Be sure to check out the ticket options on the Universal website since you want to visit two parks in one day and need certain passes to do that.

I agree that renting a car is likely the less costly way to go. Be sure to be at the gates of IOA when they open and hurry over to the Studios as soon as you can. The Studios don't usually get that crowded until late in the morning. However if you want to ride Rip Ride Rockit forget this and get to the Studios as early as possible!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

We do not drive but will be spending some time with friends who do. We might just rent a car with them.

Thanks again,

Jan
