Hi everyone! Im heading out on an Eastern in early November (hopefully) My last Eastern Caribbean turned into a western (Mexico) in 2017. We have booked a day at the Baths and was wondering what type of footwear we should bring since it appears to be a mix of uneven terrain and water. Has anyone done this port adventure?? Thank you so much in advance!! Keri :)

Chacos or Keens would be ideal, as you will walk through water and also climb over/up rocks. I think I was wearing running shoes, and I had to take them off and put them into my backpack. Great excursion, the water at the end of the hike/trailhead is divine

I bought Aleader mesh slip on water shoes and wore them on our excursion to the Baths. They were great. I think any kind of Keens or water shoes that you're comfortable walking in will be fine.

Agree with the water shoes - with a good grip - you'll be wading through shallow rock pools, water, pebbly beaches etc. We just got some basic ones from Decathlon beforehand which worked for all beach days and the Baths on our Eastern cruise.

I'm also in the Aleader water shoes group. Those rocks can get slippery and are undoubtedly wet! You're going to be doing quite a bit of walking - down the hill in sand over tree roots and such... then into the caves ... into the ocean... up and down ladders, all over the beach... If you don't have water shoes I'd suggest sneakers. You're going to need that type of tread. Enjoy the baths!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions!!! Getting excited for this one!!

I wore flip flops and was totally fine. My husband and 11 year-old son did too. No issues at all.

MH and I wore Tevas, our girls wore "keen" like sandals. There were 6yr and 4yr and I wanted them to have a little more protection. We saw many people in flip flops or even barefoot going through.

Will "A Day at the Baths" excursion be difficult for a 72 year old in relatively good shape for her age? We have this booked, but starting to get a little worried about my mother navigating the terrain.

We did the day at the baths and my husband (who was 54 at the time) had JUST had knee surgery. He decided not to go through the caves based on the recommendation of the excursion host and was dropped off at the cave exit. He's a curious man, however, and started to go in a little ways, but backwards and didn't think it was that bad at all. I did it with our children (who were 8 and 10) and I'm pretty sure that my DH wouldn't have had a problem at all. Soooo, in answer to your question---Absolutely, a 72-year-old in good shape should have no problem doing it. The only questionable part is when you have to duck underneith a rock ledge at the very beginning.

Thank you for the info!
