Hello everybody,
We're driving down to DL on Thanksgiving Day fr SF - we'll be staying at GC and already called to reserve at Storytellers for our dinner - we'll only be staying for the long weekend and got 1 day hopper and the other day to Knotts - question is - which day is best for DLR - Fri or Sat after Thanksgiving? any special events after TD at DLR on Fri? was thinking doing Knotts (first for DH,DS,DD) on Sat.- been to DLR lots of times usually May-July but never on any holidays - its our first and am anxious about crowds/traffic - we're thinking of just going on the new attractions added since we last went July 2004 - so figured 1day hopper enuf ;) - comments/suggestions :confused3

I'm afraid both Friday and Saturday are going to be very crowded. Be sure to take advantage of Fast Passes for the rides you really want to go on. If you only have one day, don't be disappointed if you don't get to go on everything that you want to go on.

Enjoy your stay at the Grand Californian. We just got back from a trip there last week and we loved it. I posted a trip report. The hotel is amazing. Also, Storyteller's dinner was SO good!!! We got the buffet and the food and service were great. Be sure to try the Corn Chowder. It is the chef's specialty.

Thanks! Yeah, we've basically been spoiled after joining DVC in 2000 ;) been staying at GC everytime we went - all different view rooms and the best was standard facing DD w view of the fireworks at night - we just want to use up our banked pts so we did a DCA view this time for our upcoming trip - we'll sure make use of fastpasses ;)

We were there last year for TG, and while Thursday was slow - both Friday and Saturday were extremely crowded. Definitely utilize fast pass, get there 1st thing in the morning (Sat is EE), and jump over to DCA in the afternoon when DL gets wall to wall people.

I agree with what other posters have said. One year when I had an annual pass, we took a spur of the moment day trip to DL the day after Thanksgiving. It was packed! They were parking people at the Anaheim convention center because all other lots were full. :scared1:
That being said, it is definitely possible to enjoy many of the rides and attractions by using fastpass and taking a midafternoon break. As long as you are well rested and prepared for the crowds, you will be fine!
Have a great time!!
