Day 7 Thursday 7/12/01 Nothing like a little Pooh in the morning.

Cast of Characters:

Me - Now referred to as Spanky thanks to Cousin Dave at 50's Prime Time. 3rd trip.
Michelle - My lovely wife who has had to endure all the changes that I've thrown at her concerning this trip. Is now starting to understand my Disney obsession. 6th trip.
Devon - An eating machine. Just turned 15 but still my baby. 3rd trip.
Jordan - Loves to have things his way. Just turned 12. 3rd trip.
Camryn - A true princess. 3 almost 4 going on 25. Now also referred to as Sugar Booger. Also thanks to Cousin Dave. Willing to try anything once. 1st trip. She is so excited.

We had not originally planned this meal. Michelle had enjoyed the last couple of character meals so much though that she wanted to do another. So, yesterday evening before we headed out for Downtown Disney, we stopped by the Concierge Desk to see if we could get a PS. They checked and we could at 7:50 the next morning. We are definitely going to have some sleep deprivation here.

We dash through the Magic Kingdom gates when they opened at 7:30 and proceeded directly to the Crystal Palace. After a few minute wait, our name was called and we were on our way. We were instructed that Pooh stays in the lobby but that Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore would be making the rounds. Our server told us to go and see Pooh whenever we would like. We first made a mad dash for the food. I kind of felt like when the Klumps show up at the buffet in the Nutty Professor 2. We took some of everything. I love cornbeef hash and they have a twist here. Prime Rib hash. Oh my was it wonderful. The breakfast lasagna, made to order omelets, Mickey waffles. We (me) were out of control. When Devon was getting up to head for his second round it was time for the dreaded napkin twirl. Good thing they don't have coctail sauce at breakfast! Anyway, Devon is trying to sneak past Piglet to get to the buffet line but Piglet won't have anything to do with this. He grabs my 15 year old, 6 foot, 185 pound son and they start dancing in the aisle. What a precious sight. My big boy is still a kid. He was having a ball. The price of the entire vacation was worth those few seconds in time. I also managed to catch it on video. Total for this memory came to $75.00 including tip. A word for the wise here. Jordan was not feeling well today and did not want to eat. We did not have to pay for breakfast for him but they did charge us a $5.00 entertainment fee. I guess that keeps people out that just want to get autographs but I think it should be waived under certain circumstances (like a sick youngster when the rest of the party is paying for a meal).

We leave here and head back to Peter Pan. After Peter Pan we send Devon over to get Fastpasses for Splash Mountain while we waited at the Haunted Mansion. He soon returned and we were off to board one of Sugar Boogers favorite rides. We just enter the graveyard where your doombuggy turns around and goes backwards when the ride stops. We were right where the real skinny dog is standing there trembling. We're going downhill this time so it must have been somebody else that has exceeded the weight limit on the ride this time. After a couple of minutes, we were again on our way.

Next we head to one of Camryn's other favorites. A rousing ride on Splash. Jordan is now starting to turn a little green around the gills. He said that he thought he must be dehydrated. We quickly buy him a sport drink and instruct him to start drinking. This was not such a good idea. Luckily there was a restroom close by. Seems we have a case of the old flu here. We make a hasty departure and head back to the hotel. Get Jordan to bed and we all try to decide on how now to proceed. I'm hungry (can you imagine that) and Michelle volunteers to run down to the Dolphin Fountain and grab some food for those willing to eat. She brings me back the Beach Boy Burgers. For those of you that have ever experienced a White Castle, you know that people either love them or hate them. I grew up on them and would travel many a mile to acquire one. In fact we use to have road trips in college just to eat these gastronomical wonders. I had really been craving these since White Castle pulled out of the Kansas City area several months ago also. Well these tasty little tidbits were about as close as you could get to the real thing. Same five little holes in the square patty on a little bun loaded with grilled onions. The only thing that was missing was the one pickle slice on each burger and the horseradish mustard. I don't have a clue as to what anybody else ordered as I was lost in my own gluttony, but the grand total came to $15.00

By late afternoon Jordan said that he just wanted to rest this evening. The rest of us decide it is time to head to MGM. Turn on the cell phones and instruct Jordan to call if he needs anything. We figure we can make it back in 5 to 10 minutes worst case. We arrive at MGM and now Devon is complaining that he too doesn't feel well. NO.. I am not going to have everyone getting sick on this vacation. I have been planning this for too long and it is not on my itinerary. We send Devon back to the hotel to join his brother. Looks like it's just going to be three of us tonight. We head to see Muppets and enjoy the show as always. As we leave the theater we spot Woody and Buzz back by Al's Toy Barn. Just as we get in line, it starts to pour again. Woody and Buzz must go back inside since Buzz is electronic and water may cause a short circuit. We don't want that on our hands. We head off and play a couple of games at Pizza Planet. Why they stop serving food at 4:00 p.m. is a mystery to me. We do not have any PS's for tonight. We decide to go to 50's Prime Time and get our name in for later. Michelle, the boys and I have eater here before but everything is new to Camryn so we thought we would take her. We get a PS for 7:10 p.m.. Perfect. The rain has now let up and we head back and are the next to last group that they let see Buzz and Woody. There were some mighty unhappy people when they were told that the line was closed. Woody and Buzz stamp their signatures, as they do not know how to write. They are preschool toys we are told.

Time to shop a little and then head to dinner. We rested in the living room at 50's for a few minutes and watched some old TV clips. Soon they were calling us to dinner. Cousin Dave was a riot. I was now to be known as Spanky, Camryn as Sugar Booger, and the boy two tables over is now Sparky. Dave kept us in stitches. The table right next to us was a guy in his early 20's and his girlfriend. I think he was trying to impress her on a date but Dave saw that this would not happen. He caught the guy without his napkin in his lap and quickly ties an Ariel bib around his neck while scolding him on the proper use of a napkin. The girl was loving it, snapping pictures the whole time while this guy didn't know what to do. Tonight I had the New York Strip and salad, Michelle had Uncle Giovanni's Pasta with Shrimp and a salad, and Sugar Booger had the kids hot dog. Total with tip came to $53.00 and a really good time.

On the way out we stopped and picked the sick kids up a couple of little surprises. We decided to walk back to the hotel tonight. What a pleasant night. We could see the fireworks from Illuminations as we made our stroll back to the hotel. Jordan and Devon were still fast asleep. Hopefully they will feel better tomorrow. A good nights sleep will do us all some good.

Poor kids--I hope they feel better. What a bummer--to get sick at WDW. It's not suprising, though, with how hard we push ourselves and the weird sleeping and eating schedules.

it is like being sick on the holidays.....Hope they feel better before the next installment.......

I was sick in at Disney on Thanksgiving Day! Not fun. It passed for me after a couple of days. Hope it did for your boys too.:)

Nothing worse than sick children! :( On our vacation in December, we ended up taking our 1 year old to the ER of Celebration hospital...she had a temp of 104.6!! That was a double ear infection!! I hope that they feel better by the next post!! Great report...50's prime time is a favorite with us as well!! :)

:( poor kids :( Hope they get better!

Hope your sons are better in the next installment! Loved the 50's PT cafe too!
