Cast of Characters:

Me - Mom - 39 - chief worrier, planner, director, packer, organizer, etc. etc. etc.
DH - Dad - 44 - along for the ride
DD1 - Tink - 21 - will be senior in college next year but a kid at heart
DD2 - Bug - 10 - easy going tomboy

Tuesday finds the family moving a little slower. We get to EPCOT about 15 minutes after opening and immediately ride Space Ship Earth. I sit this one out. With panic attacks anything that stops moving that I cannot get out of is not good (I know I could get out but I think the CM's frown on people exiting the ride halfway through - I can see it now - I fall over the caveman trying to get to exit door) so I hang out and people watch. Tink announces that rides stops 4 times and she was glad I was not on it. On to Innovations and have picture made. Enter our first grumpy CM. Tink, Bug and I are pin collecting and we ask a CM to see his lanyard. While we are looking at his, he informs us that he will not trade for just any pin. He looks at Bug's lanyard (she had gotten a Pooh pin from some CM and the pin look a little different than the others) and he tells her that the pooh pin is worthless and she just needs to remove it from her lanyard. Well now, first of all we didn't ask him to trade, Bug likes the pooh pin and has no intention of getting rid of it and no ASKED him his opinion. I started to inform him that it is Disney policy for a CM to trade with any guest as long as they don't have the pin on their lanyard but I decide it's not worth acting unDisneylike. We thank him for his time and move on. Bug looks at her pooh pin with a sad face and I tell her if she likes it, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. She thinks about this for a moment, breaks into a big smile and we go on our way. In our entire stay, I think this is about the only CM we encountered that was not polite and smiling.

We sample the drinks at Ice Station, I trick family into tasting Beverly and then I have to taste it myself just to see how bad it tastes. Yuck! We watch the creature show (for lack of better words to describe it). Very talented and extremely flexible people in black suits. Next to Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Now Bug is balking at going into another 3-D show. Its Tough To Be a Bug rattled her yesterday and she is just not sure about this 3-D stuff. I assure her I will leave if she gets the least bit frightened I will leave with her and she reluctantly agrees. We all love this show and Bug is now confident that she will do the "bug" show again when we return to AK. I was looking forward to showing Bug the fountain outside this attraction but it wasn't working. A CM nearby wasn't sure what was wrong with it. Oh well, we had really enjoyed watching the water jump from hole to hole the last time we were there I guess its one of those things that we will look for next time. On to lunch and the World Showcase. This was Tink's very favorite part of our trip 5 years ago. We visit each of the countries, they do the Norway and China ride. Bug does the mask (getting stamps and things to decorate it with at each country). By this time it getting close to 3:00 pm and everyone is ready to go. We catch the butterfly dancers at the front and enjoy watching them as we leave.

After resting for a while, it's off to meet friends from SC at MK. Again we drive car and park it at the Contempery and walk over. I LOVE this! The park is somewhat crowded but not too bad. This is our first time in MK for this trip and I love that feeling of walking up main street and seeing the castle for the first time. How magical! Find friends and immediately jump on Buzz. I like this ride except for room with shooting stars. It's just a little disorienting. Tink has high score. Everyone likes it and agrees to ride again. Now we enter room and I am concentrating on not getting freaked but I notice the door to the next room is not getting closer. I look down and realize the ride is NOT moving. OK, it loud, disorienting, neon colored room and we are not in a place where you can easily exit. OH NO! I'm stuck on Buzz in the shooting star room. Well after about 10 seconds of pure terror, I calm down (enough xanax has that effect) and try to hit targets while continuously looking down to see if the ride is moving yet. Finally after 5 hours (really about 2 minutes) the ride continues and we exit. Everyone except me is thrilled to have had extra time to really score some high points! DH and friends ride Alien Encounter. Space Mountain (Bug and I sit this one out) Haunted Mansion - Bug is not sure about this ride and I really don't like the front room. I explain to CM that I have problems with elevators and ask CM can we skip the front room (I don't do elevators) and simply board the ride. (There is no line for the ride at this point.) The CM was so nice and said no problem. He escorted me and Bug though another door and right to where the ride boards. Bug looks at ride and gloomy interior and promptly asks to go back. We talk about it for a minute and I assure her its OK to leave if she wants to. She immediately does! We hang out and wait for the rest of our crew. Bug is a little down on herself at this point but I reassure her that when she is ready to ride she will. I dislike people who make their children get on things that scare them silly just because they should be big enough or brave enough to do it. We all get back together and head to Splash Mountain. Bug and I hang out while everyone else goes on. Bug is getting more and more depressed about this ride thing. Big Thunder Railroad is next and she decides to try. I wait and she comes screaming back that I MUST go on this ride. It is so FUN. So with some reservations, I board ride and have a ball. Bug is laughing the whole way. Tink rides with me and keeps saying, "did you see this, did you see that"? No I was hanging on too tight but I really did enjoy this ride. Not too big and no big drops. Parks closes at 8:00 and our friends have to leave but we have E night bands and get to stay and shut it down at 11:00. We eat supper and then do Country Bear Jamboree, Big Thunder Railroad (again), Buzz (twice), Astro Orbitors (Bug will not let Tink go high), and the People Mover. We show Bug how you can see the space mountain ride running on this ride and she was glad that she didn't go on it. It's getting close to 11:00 and we walk up to the castle. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale are all out in front. Chip and Dale are dancing with guests. Mickey and Minnie have no lines. This is wonderful. There are so few people there that the characters have plenty of time to interact with everyone. Finally characters go in, and we sit on benches in front of castle. There is no one else around except for 1 other couple, the night is cool, the castle is changing colors and we are all together. It is a memory I will cherish forever. This is what the magic is about. I'm so glad we're here!

Join us as next time I make a terrible mistake "what do you mean buses don't go to the Magic Kingdom"????

Great trip report. I am glad Bug didn't get too down on herself and went on BTMR and had a great time. You are right not to force anyone on a ride. It could make them have uneasy feelings the rest of their lives. Smart Mom! Thanks for Posting!!!1

Great trip report...can't wait to read more
