Day 5 - Around the World all Day Epcot
Our last park day of the trip At least were going IMO to the most laid back and relaxing of the 4. Do the usual shower, shave, and pop tart slam. And most everyones ready to go by about 9:30. Going towards the bus stop we see SILs group and they are going to do the breakfast buffet at Maya Grill. Breakfas seems to be one of the only real meals the niece and nephew have been able to eat the whole trip. I think they did this buffet a couple of times and it worked out well for them. At the bus stop, we meet up with the sisters group, and the Outlaws. M&J went to Downtown Disney the night before and are sleeping in a bit. Our first item for the day is Mission Space and we start briskly walking that way upon entering. The Outlaws and the sisters head towards The Living Seas and its a while before we meet up again. Okay Mission Space, the biggie, the newest thrill ride in Disney and were in line! Everyones kinda nervous with all the warnings about spinning, simulator, motion sickness, etc. but we trudge forward and before we know it were ready for launch. The ride is pretty intense and Im the most prone to motion sickness. A couple of times the screen blurred enough that I felt the spinning and when the ride was over, I was not right. DW, DD, and DS loved it and thought it was great but I had to rest while the did the Space Race game afterwards. A very good ride, but once was enough for me.
Im sure the kids will go again though and it is a world class ride. There is a moment where you actually feel like youre floating in space. How do they do that??!!
After Im somewhat ready to walk, we head to get some lunch. It may not sound like it, but it is what I need. After trucking through Mexico, Norway, China, Outpost, Germany, Italy, and the American pavillions, we finally decide to eat at Japan. The Teppinyaki tables are calling us. We have a very good server who is funny and a good cook. DD and I got the shrimp and scallops, DW got the steak and shrimp and DS got a chicken dish. Very very good meal and by the end of eating I was just about right. DS stopped at the kidcot stop and started his mask/stamp collection. We then decided some canoli from Italy would be good. Turns out that the rest of the day would be too much desert, but hey its vacation. We actually ended up getting a canoli and two mousses from Italy. Yum Yum! We then headed towards the American Adventure Theater and saw The Voices of Liberty and American Vybe the acapella groups before the show. They were all dressed up for the season and sounded great. The show was a little slow, but well done and moving. After the show it was time to search for more pastries and a gift for DSs Martial Arts teacher.
We made it to Norway and got a couple goodies for later or tomorrows breakfast, then on to China. While in the China shops it began to rain We decided to buy a couple of umbrellas that were not that expensive and DS decided on a dragon for his teacher. The rain let up after about a half an hour, confirming the theory that if you buy umbrellas the rain will stop.
DS needed to get a couple more kidcot country stamps before the 5:00 showing of Candlelight Processional, so we went back towards Morocco and France. But on the way by the outpost DD and DS were goofing around a bit and DS fell and cut his knee. I got ointment from the outpost and DD ran into Aunt D and Rhon and they gave her a band aid. Determined that this wasnt going to do the job, so we headed back towards FW and the first aid station. Get there and DS gets washed up with iodine, some more ointment, and a big butterfly bandaid that covers the cut well.
By this time its too close to 5:00 to make the show so we stop off at Mexico and ride the boat ride. Nothing special, I like some parts and cringe at others (the market sellers scene). Head all the way back towards Morocco and France to get closer to completing DSs kidcot stamps. In Morroco we meet up with the Outlaws and we all get our pics taken with the Genie and Jasmine. Were getting close to the time to get in line for the next Candlelight Processional show, so the Outlaws decide to catch the American Adventure before the show, and we head off to France for a stamp and more pastries!! Before getting pastries we see Esmerelda and the jester from Hunchback of Notre Dame and get a couple quick pics with them.
At the France bakery we purchase an éclair/crème puff thing and a peach tart. Then off to the CP line. As were making our way back, we see the Sisters group and get in line with them, They have Norwegian baked goodies and we all share a little of this and a little of that while we wait. Rhons not really into sitting for the show, so she heads off to France for a bit of shopping with a plan to meet up with her after the show, in Italy. We get seated before too long and the seats are great, not to far back from the dinner package seats. The show is very good. I dont know if its because we were all starting to get drained after 4 plus parks in 4 days. But the show seemed somewhat overwhelming and over the top. Edward James Olmos did a fine job and the show was very moving, with the large choir, orchestra, and snow.
After the Show we split up from the Sisters and heads towards the final two stamp destinations United Kingdom and Canada. After getting these last stamps our bodies are starting to cry out for some real food. So after rejecting the Rose and Crown Menu ( DW hates peas and after seeing it, rejected the whole menu! LOL) We ended up getting a couple orders of Fish and Chips from the counter service place and as we ate, the sprinkles returned We probably should have bagged this long day and returned to CSR, but DD really wanted to see Illuminations so we stuck it out by waiting near Canada and DD doing a bit more shopping for her friends back home. When the show started, everything was fine, then after the first large group of fireworks, this huge column of smoke started heading our way. That was enough for me and DW, so we headed out towards the front while taking some pauses to glance back at the finish of the show.
At the bus stop, theres one waiting for us, about half full, it fills up fairly quickly and were back at the hotel for our last night in WDW . Before retiring, Our 4, SIL and niece, and M&J congregate in the Outlaws room for some slap happy giggling fun. Seemed to be centering around everyone singing ( or trying to sing ) Its a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow from COP. M&J were scheduled to be picked up by FL Tours at 8:30 so around 11:00 we all said goodbyes and everyone went to bed, drained, sad, and happy at the same time.
Peace
