We must say good by today to the wonderful Portofino Bay. If WDW wasn't next I WOULD NOT GO!!! IWILL BE BACK.This was such a nice way to start my vacation. The two parks are easy to do in a day each and still have plenty of time to spend at the resort. Fl Tours picked us up at noon and we were off to WDW. Checked into the BWLBV in Downtown Disney. I like this area very much and the views from this hotel can't be beat. Now I can't say that it is as fancy as the Portofino but it fits my requirements. I would perhaps try a value or a moderate iif they didn't have outside entries where people walk in front of the windows all the time. This hotel has central hallways and we didn't have to bring a coffee pot or get dressed to just have our morning coffee. At this hotel I booked 2 rooms 1 smoking and 1 non. I was on the 10th floor and mother was on the 9th. I had paid the extra to have park views and the views from both were excellent. I have no problem with the transportation from the dd hotels, but I do realize that families with small children may want to drive. Someone is always waiting with a cab to go where ever you want and we used them a couple of times in the days ahead. We go to our separate rooms and get all settled in for the next 9 nights. Then go to Goodings and get some snacks. Mother likes to get up in the middle of the night and have cereal so I had ordered a fridge for her room. I also get some more wine and cheese. I have a PS for us at the California Grill at 5;30 so we meet up about 4 to go to the Comtempory. Again we are so laid back on this trip that the bus ride is no problem. Take the monorail all around the lake and get off and shop awhile before dinner. The view was very nice and it was fun watching an approaching storm. Mother had the Chicken Mole' Flat Bread and I had the Filet. Both were excellent and found the atmosphere of this place just right for our first night. Rain cleared up and started to walk to Magic Kingdom to watch the fireworks that night but almost there it stated to rain buckets again and we decided not to waste a day of our passes and went back to our rooms. I still had some wine left from the Portofino and with that I sat on my balcony.

Note: The balconies at the BWLBV are very nice and roomy. Although I like the rooms better at the Hotel Royal Plaza they only have a small balcony that is not large enough to sit out.

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.
