Day 4 arrived and we were off to AK. We decided to go to McDonalds for breakfast on the way. McD's down here has a bunch of items that are new to us, primarily scoop ice cream and fruit burst ice cream cones, but we'll save those for lunch.
We got to Ak just after 9, crowds were already pretty thick, which really suprised me. We decided to grab a FP for the Safari ride and head back to Kali River Rapids. Kali had a 5 min wait, but it was really a walk on. I rode it twice in a row, once with each of our kids. They are so lucky that their father has a knack to pick the wet seat on any ride. Both times we got soaked.
After that, we did Safari, then walked around the zoo part and saw the bats. There were a ton of buses out on the Safari tour, we had a great driver who really got into the act and made it a lot of fun. The kids wanted to see the new Dinosaur area, so we walked over there next. Wait times weren't too bad, 25 minutes, but we decided to get a FP for Primevil Whirl and let the kids play for a bit in the Boneyard area. The whole area is, well, different. I'm not sure if it fits the Disney theme or not, but if its themed to be a sideshow carnival, then they hit it on the mark. I personally don't like it, but it did seem to swallow up a bunch of guests. Put primevil whirl in a dark building and you got something.
I really wanted to see Tarzan Rocks this time, but after a great lunch at Rainforest Cafe, the kids wanted to go for a swim back at the Poly, so we missed it again. Maybe next time...
We did finally see Evine (or whatever her name is) crawling around one of the paths in AK. That was a really neat thing to see, she moves so slow and graceful its incredible. Got a few good pics of her face and body too, if I knew how to post them here, I would.
The afternoon was spent between the Volcano pool and the bar. $5 per beer only bothers you the first 5 or 6 times, after that, you stop caring. For a Tuesday, we thought the pool was really busy, maybe the Contemporary guests are making it seem thaway. It took 15 minutes just to find a chair. My daughter took a break late to get her hair twisted so Matthew, my son, and me took out a mouseboat. (wish I had some tools with me, could have made ours run better) The boat was slow and not much fun, so we brought it back early. My daughters hair turned out great, hope she can leave it alone for a few days.
The new Luau show is really good. We never saw the old one, but tonight was a really fun time. Food was ok, I don't like pineapple, but it was still ok. Our server made sure we were well loaded with beer at all times. I hadn't reserved this unitl just a couple months ago so I was worried that our seats would not be very good. As it turns out, we were front row left with great seats of the whole night. Between the Luau and Hoop de Do, its a toss up. Both shows are good in a different way. Either way, book early and get a front row seat.
Tomorrow is another day at EPCOT before we hit HRH.
Final thoughts- Face painting seems to be the new "in" thing. Everywhere we go, kids are getting their faces painted now. We've also noticed that more people have tattoos now adays. I don't like them myself, but to each their own. Since Blizzard Beach is closed due to crowds, I mean refurbishment, I think we'll head over to Wet n Wild Thursday. Not sure if I'll post the rest of this trip for a while, HRH charges by the minute for local calls instead of .75 per call like the Poly.
Let me know if I can answer any questions, I'd be glad to help.
