Camping at Jab lines
We got up at around 07:30 and Casey and I had a shower. Bruce again sorted himself and the boys. We girls apparently take forever to get ready.
We had our usual pain au chocolate for breakfast.
We went to leave the campsite at 09:15 and decided that we would speak to the owners about the route to Disneyland as they advertised it would be 10KM away, but we were finding it to be 17-20 KM. Apparently we were taking the long way. He gave us a map to follow. Whilst we were following his map, we passed Val d Europe and Auchun. We were trying to find this the other day. Typical we always seem to find these places on our last day.
We arrive at the parking area around 09:45. We parked at B13 and were so pleased that we further up the car park as the walk really hurt our legs even before we got to the park.
As we approached, the park there was a line of protesters in front of the entrance to Disneyland Park blowing whistles and holding signs. When we approached one of the protestors moved. At first, it was quite intimidating and many children seemed to be scared. When we approached, it was obvious it was a friendly protest. However, I still find this unacceptable at a magical place at Disney especially when children were scared.
We went into the park and again we headed over to Buzz light year ride. It was a 25 minute wait so we decided to wait for the ride. It went pretty quick as the line was moving all the time. The kids loved this ride and I thought it was good too. We came out of the ride and noticed Buzz was outside. We walked over so the kids can meet him. Callum is obsessed with Buzz. After about 20 minute wait the kids met Buzz. Callum was so excited he did not want to leave him alone.
After Buzz we headed over to Fantasyland and went on its a Small World again the kids loved this ride. The park was heaving with guests that the wait times escalated and the fast pass ride times for Peter Pan was in the evening. We went into Frontier land and grabbed a fast pass for Big Thunder Mountain which was for 16:45-17:15. We went and had a look in a few shops and stopped for a drink as we booked to have dinner at Lucky Nugget Saloon again so Casey could have some character interaction.
Our table was booked for 12:30. As soon as we arrived, we were told our table was ready. The waiter showed me where our table was. Bruce was held up as Goofy started playing with the kids as soon as he saw them come into the restaurant and they were having such a great time already. My kids have the cutest smiles and laugh when they are having fun and it made my heart melt. This is what I love about Disney just seeing my kids faces light up. While Bruce and the kids were still with Goofy, Tigger came up to our table and held his hands up so say where are they? I pointed out where they were. Bruce and the kids came back to the table and as soon as they sat down Minnie came along. Bruce and I noticed that the band was playing today and it really added to the atmosphere although a couple of characters held their hands to the ears when they went up to the children. Goofy was the best character their for interaction on this visit although Minnie was the best on the prior visit. The food was still average, but you pay for the character interaction to be honest. We still enjoyed their desserts and filled up on these. Their were different characters this time round as well which was good. We had Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Pinocchio, Tigger, Gippeto, two other characters I cannot remember what they were called. We were impressed with lunch it went really well.
After lunch, we were full so we headed over to see the Dragon. It was dark and I was quite worried about walking into someone, but we managed not to. I thought this was a great idea for the kids to go and see the Dragon and have this as additional feature. The boys could not really see and they were so tired that we left them in their pram and I stayed with them while Bruce and Casey went to have a proper look.
I took Casey upstairs in the castle to see the Sleeping Beauty books and stained windows. It was pretty and to be able to walk outside the castle and to be standing at the back of the castle and overlook the park was great. I do not think you can do this in Florida so this was great. I was impressed. Bruce stayed with the boys, as he thought it was a girly thing to do. The stairs at the exit of the balcony where you can see out on the castle were tight windy stairs. I was petrified that I would fall down them, but I was fine. Phew no broken ankles.
We went into Adventure land where Bruce took Casey around the pirates ship, caves, play areas etc while I sat down and watched the boys as they were still sleeping. It was warm and I was feeling really tired and my legs were aching. I still cannot understand why my legs hurt so much especially the balls of feet. I am on my feet all of the time in my job being a nurse, but could I handle the parks no. I was a little annoyed that my feet hurt, so the rest was appreciated. Bruce came back with Casey and got us a few drinks.
After Adventure land we headed over to Fantasyland, we went on the storybook ride. I thought this was cute. We started to wait for Caseys train ride, but as soon as we got near to the entrance of the ride they closed the ride apparently due to a potential thunderstorm. We waited for 30 minutes when the sign said 15 minutes. We noticed today that their were children fiddling with the waiting times so it would make people either not wait if the line was small or people join if the wait time was long. This was quite annoying.
We headed over to Frontier land, but decided if Caseys train was closed then so would be Thunder Mountain so we took a slow walk and started to head over to Tarzan to see the show for the last time. We were late so we could not see it.
We then decided we would go into Main Street and look at some shops before we headed home it was 17:20. We went into the shop I bought a Mickey and Minnie cushions, cups and glasses. We wanted to use our annual pass discounts, but the woman at the till kept having problems. She called her supervisor who informed her to take me to another till. I paid for the items and when I saw Bruce I realized she had not taken the 10% off correctly she only took off 32 cents supposed to 4 euros. Bruce took the bag and said he would sort it out. The shop was really busy and people were getting annoyed that they had to walk around a buggy. The boys were trying to get things from the side so I waited outside the shop. After about 15 minutes, Bruce came back and he managed to get it sorted out in the end.
We got back to the car around 18:15 and headed back for the tent. We were lucky we came back early as a big thunderstorm came and the wind and the rain was bad. Bruce was a little nervous that our tent would not hold up. I said it would be fine. He said he was more worried about our pitching techniques as the tent was brand new, so he has not used the tent in this weather. Was I pleased that I demanded we had a sewn in ground sheet otherwise the ground sheet would have been soaked and mud everywhere.
Kids and I were getting hungry so we headed over to Val D Europe where we noticed that they had a drive through McDonalds. We had big tasty burger so we would get free coke glasses and the kids had nugget happy meals.
We came back to the tent around 21:00 and put the kids to bed. Bruce and I stayed up and chatted before we went to bed. We could not believe that we found the shopping mall, hypermarket or McDonalds on the last day. We wanted to stock up on the first day but we could not find it. Always being in a rush bites us in the back end every time. If we slowed down and thought about asking the owners how to get to Disney, we would have found a quicker route and been able to eat for a lot less. Never mind we all learn from our mistakes.
We went to bed feeling depressed that we would have to put the tent down in the morning and go home. We said we would go shopping in Val D Europe the next day as I was a little fed up with Disneyland, but only because there was nothing else we had seen or done and wanted a change. What I did not realize was that I would be the one the following morning suggesting that we would be going to back to Disneyland, but that is another trip report.
