DD5 - Amy, the shy, slooow one

Today it's off to AK for another EE day. It was tough getting the princesses out of bed this morning (I would pay dearly for this later). We arrive again just as the gates are opening and we high tail it (which means a combination of dragging and carrying Amy) to Kilamanjaro Safari.

The animals were out, but getting pictures of them with a digital camera and a bouncing jeep I'm convinced requires some sort of advanced training at a clandestine military sharpshooter base. I would press the button on my digital camera and with the delay built into the camera and the movement of the animal and jeep would be left with a beautiful picture of the surrounding scenery and a unidentifiable tail of some species of hoofed animal. I did manage 1 good shot of a rhino that walked right up to the back of our jeep. This got me thinking that an animal that is as big as our jeep and with a weapon of mass destruction mounted on his head ought to be tucked away safely behind a moat or something.

After this trip, we grabbed a FP for a return trip and went through the Pangani Trail until our return time. The second trip through revealed less animal movement than the first and I now understand why they tell you to hit this attraction first. Joann asks if I have read the camera manual to find out how to take action pictures and I remind her that my gender's code of honor does not allow me to read instruction manuals or ask for directions.

After our 2nd Safari, Casey decides to get her face painted like a Leopard Prince$$. Sooo Cute. Then it was time time for Dad to pay for getting his family up early for the third morning in a row. "We just want to go back to the Lodge and play in the pool and on the Beach....No we don't want to go on any rides...No we don't want to go to any shows..." The Princesses are revolting!!

I finally convinced them to go play in the Boneyard to kill time until lunch at the RainFore$t Cafe. Be Forewarned!!! That once kids arrive in the extravagant sandbox known as "The Boneyard" you will need massive amounts of bribes to extricate them. While they were playing and Joann was resting I snuck off (amidst hollers of COWARD from Joann) to ride Dinosaur. Good Ride!

Lunch at RFC was great. It made Amy's belly happy, and altered Casey's attitude enough to be convinced to see Lion King before going back to WL. Lion King was a fantastic show!!, we highly recommend it.

After a proper nap and pool break we decided to go to MK to catch the fireworks from the park. We split up-Joann and Amy went to ride the train while Casey and I went on Buzz. After displaying my Buzz superiority once again Casey and I had (dinner?) at the Bakery on Main Street. I swore her to secrecy over the fact that dinner consisted of a cheese danish and a giant sugar cookie washed down with chocolate milk. Then we all met up on the bridge between TomorrowLand and Main Street to watch the fireworks. Joann bought Amy and herself their first Pin $tarter Kit$ and spoke extensively with one of the CM's about the fine art of Pin Trading. Me thinkst me be in trouble!!!

I took pictures of the castle until I had at least one of every color. Then the fireworks were ready to begin. The girls had been asking the last couple of days what the wire coming out of the castle was for. I told them that I had heard that Tinkerbell comes out of the castle on that to begin the fireworks display. "You mean the reeaal Tinkerbell flies out of the castle dad?" No, I assured them that it was surely an animatronic Tink. Well imagine my shock when the Reeaal Tink indeed came shooting down the wire. I don't know who's eyes were wider the girls or mine.

Our day that started out so shaky, could not have had a better ending.

I can relate to the boneyard fiasco....so glad that the day ended on a magical note!! Thanks for reporting!

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.
