Day 3 – 8th July, we have visitors

Cast members

Me – Disney fanatic - I stomped through Disneyland Paris in 1997, since why come to a theme park when you’re in Paris, yes really!
Diane (DP) – Long suffering Disney widow, buts loves it all anyway
Morgan (DD) – 7 year old Disney fan. Favourites BTM, Pirates of the Caribbean
Jack (DS) – 5 year old Disney, Star Wars and Power Rangers fan. Favourite Autopia
Robyn (DD) – 3 year old Disney fan. Loves parades and Casey Jr

We are up showered, breakfasted and hit Hotel New York for just after 9.00am
Mickey is on photocall in the hotel and he is all alone :guilty:
So another photograph and autographs to the collection

We head for Autopia, as we have never done this ride before and Jack and Morgan are both keen to drive. We see that a queue has already started to form and the ride does not open until 11.00am, so it is back to the new favourite POTC.
A txt this morning confirms that Eurostar is running so we’ll be meeting my brother and his wife later.
You’ll see that none of the major rides figure in our plans, but this year that was about to change :goodvibes
Morgan had been building up that she would be trying Big Thunder Mountain. So off Diane and Morgan went using 2 of the FP’s we got with the annual passport.
After Phantom Manor I pick up two FP’s for BTM – it’s my turn next :cheer2:
Wandering about for a bit we decide on something new for lunch. Finding a hot-dog cart and picnicking on a bench.
Fed and watered we next go on Storybook and Casey Jr. A quick look at the watch tells me that our FP window is open in 10 minutes so we head over to Frontierland.
Morgan was keen to get a photograph but only mum and dad were visible in the photographs.
It’s now time to go and meet Mark and Angela. They have tried calling us and txting but the sms comes through just as we spot each other.
We walk over to HNY and I do a double taxi run to get everyone to the DCR, since they are not keen on going in to the park and the Village won’t keep the troop occupied for long

This is an opportunity to explore the Ranch.

Next door to the Tavern is the Blue Springs Pool; which we hope to be trying out in the next few days.
The Bowies Bike Barn is where you hire bikes, book pony rides. the information desk is here if you want to book anything – restaurants, character meals, buffalo bill show.
Behind the barn is the farm which you can wander round. Nothing startling but the kids enjoy it all the same.
The children’s play area is in the same vicinity.
Our most visited establishment was the Alamo Trading Post, otherwise know as the shop. As well as a reasonable selection of merchandise, provisions could also be bought. We did not prepare any food in the cabin. But with the 2 ring hob and the selection from the shop you could easily settle for lunch or suppers self-catering. As we like to keep the troop to a bedtime routine and I was the nominated driver, well I was the only driver insured for the hire car we bought the important provisions of wine each evening.
Entertainment and character interaction are organised every evening. The ranch was naturally quite quiet so we decided to head back to the Village.
After a wander where the kids spend their money from Aunty and Uncle we decide to try Planet Hollywood for the first time. The 20% discount on Simon’s book is an extra incentive.
Three of us have fajitas (beef and chicken), roast chicken and surprise surprise the kids go for hot-dogs and don’t leave a morsel. Shame mind you that Planet Hollywood don’t follow the practice of the others regarding kids drink cups. they would have been a nice addition to the collection.
After a very enjoyable evening we wander around the Village but since the rain comes again Mark and Angela bid us goodbye and head off to Paris.
We’re back in the Ranch at 9.45pm – well past the bedtime, but we are on holiday after all.

Another great instalment, Reid.:wizard: Are Mark and Angela not Disney fanatics or was it because of the lack of time they didn't go into the parks?

Awww, what a shame Morgan didn't show up in the BTM photo.:(

I know that we can eat/drink in any of the hotels even if we are not staying there but I gather from your reports its also OK for us to go into them for a character photo? I hadn't thought of doing that. Thats a big relief because I had heard its a bit of a free-for-all with characters in the parks unlike at WDW where everyone queues nicely and woe betide anyone who tries to muscle in on your photo, the CM's are on to them straight away! :rotfl:

I think I'm beginning to get the hang of this Reid - second time you've described wine as "essentials" - I totally agree!!!!! ;)
Glad you all had a lovely day with your brother and SIL. Day 4 please!!!!! :)

No they were not Disney at all. Although I suspect if they went in to the park they would have enjoyed it. In their defence it is a pity that there was not a 1/2 day ticket.

I'd recommend the Hotels for character photos. The lack of organisation in the parks is one of my bug bears. It is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt :guilty:

ITA. I wonder why they don't organise things better like they do at WDW. Apart from the frustration element you don't really want loads of unknown kids on your photos. It makes it so much more special when it looks like you've got the character all to yourself - even for only 15 seconds!!

I think it certainly used to be a bit of a free-for-all, but I seem to remember last time we went (2002) that they were making people form an orderly queue! Particularly for the more popular characters like Mickey and Minnie.

Great report, Reid. :) The Davy Crockett Ranch interior looks lovely!

Where ever there is an official photograph call then CM's will help ensure a queue. But throughout the park, including the Princesses spot, it is a freeforall.

It was a free for all in Feb 2004 :( which I have to say was the only thing I did not like about DLP.

Reid, loving your report and photos :)

Oh, that's a shame. :( I wonder why they scrapped the orderly queues. Orderly queues are so lovely and... orderly! ::yes::
