Today was Sunday, October 5. We had a PS at 'Ohana for breakfast, which was great as usual. This meal has grown on me over the years...when DD and I did it 2 years ago, I wasn't impressed...but we did it again this past June and we really enjoyed it. So I planned one again for this trip and I wasn't disappointed! DH and DS3 had never done this one. We got to the Poly earlier than I expected, it was only 9:00 and our PS wasn't until 9:40. I thought we'd have a long wait, but they seated us after only 5 minutes! We were given some of the delicious pineapple bread and we snacked on that until our server brought us our skillet...it had scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and waffles in it and it all tasted great! The characters came around to our table and Goofy was first...he snuck up behind DS3 and draped a napkin over his head! I thought DS would yank the napkin off to see what the heck was going on, but no, he just sat there, motionless, with a napkin completely covering his head! I got so tickled...Goofy finally 'rescued' DS and took the napkin off his head...we got some cute pictures...Mickey and Chip and Dale were also at this meal and DD8 had a fun time giving them all hugs and getting their autographs. DS3 was pretty shy, I think he was mostly just hungry and he didn't want to be involved with the characters just then...Goofy put his hands on DS's head and the picture of that cracks me up! DS has a look on his face that could kill! He looks so 'put out' with Goofy for draping the napkin over him, and then putting his hands on his head...
After breakfast, we went on a ride on the monorail which of course got us all so excited to go to MK that night for the Halloween Party...after our whirlwind trip around the park, we headed back to the Swan for some swimming. Fun but the water was COLD!! We quit swimming and headed back to the room around 2:30 so we could rest up for the party that night.
We all dressed up, I was Minnie; DH was Woody, Sr.; DD8 was Jasmine and DS3 was Woody Jr. We got to MK early, it was only 6:30 and the party didn't start until 7:00, but they let us in anyway! I was excited, they gave us each an orange bracelet to allow us into the party and we went to get a stroller next...the CM asked our name and I spelled it for him and was handing him some $$ and he said it was free! Sure enough, we had a complimentary stroller for the party! Awesome!
We went straight to Dumbo and rode with almost no wait and also rode the carousel. We then rode Peter Pan and slid on over to It's a Small World, not to ride it b/c it wasn't running that night, but to get our family photo taken! They were taking pics of all the families there and sending one complimentary photo to your home address! I received ours and it is sooo cute except that DH has his eyes closed! oh well. Then we headed to Haunted Mansion for the Dis meet. We met perfectmatch and also mecook! She is super nice and I got to meet her hubby and adorable little girl. We had a nice chat and took a group photo and then I had to make a fast exit out of that area b/c the mosquitos were lunching on me! Acckk! We headed away from the water and ran smack dab into the parade route, which was already roped off and a old scary looking guy was telling the story of Ichabod Crane, that was very entertaining! After the story, the lights dimmed and the headless horseman came galloping through! Talk about creepy!!! It was very cool though...we didn't stay for the parade, we went to Pirates and rode that and the combination of the darkness and the 'not-so-scariness' of the party had freaked DD8 out a little! She wasn't crying or anything, she was just creeped out! I made a mental note NOT to ride the Haunted Mansion tonight!
We went to Tomorrowland and I MADE DH do the Alien Encounter attraction...he had never done it and I wanted him to see it before it closed for good. The kids and I rode the people mover while he did that and he was hooting with laughter when he came out of AE! We met up with mecook and her family again and her DD and my DD had a wonderful time running around and even going to the bathroom! They were so cute and had such a good time together.
We went up to Toontown and saw Mickey and Minnie's houses...I think that was the last thing we did. We did see the special Halloween fireworks which were awesome! And the special effects everywhere were just amazing...the castle and the buildings on Main Street were all lit up with shadows of ghosts and witches floating past, too cool! There were tons of huge Mickey pumpkins set up everywhere...the kids trick or treated some, there were giant lighted jack-o-lanterns at the trick or treat stations. All night long people kept telling us our costumes looked great and a guy at dinner even offered to take our picture which was very nice, even more so now that DH closed his eyes in the Disney one. One CM gave me a Mickey sticker and said I needed to wear it to "represent my boyfriend." People really seemed to get a kick out of the two Woody's in the family, DH was such a good sport for dressing up! It was a wonderful evening and we headed back around 11:00. The crowds were very thin, so even if you're not a Halloween person, consider going to the MNSSHP just to be able to ride rides!
Tomorrow: AK and seeing someone famous!
