Typhoon Lagoon

We had breakfast in the food court again this morning. A fruit cup and bagel for me, cereal for the boys and cheese omelette for Gabs.

We decided to drive to Typhoon Lagoon as it’s only about 5 minutes away. Thanks goodness – because as we about to get out of the resort’s gates I realised that we’d forgotten the waterproof money-holder so we had to go back to the room. As Enz was parking up it hit me that actually we’d forgotten something much more important – towels? Money? Suncream? Nope. PASSES.

We arrived at T L at about 10.20 and there was a queue of people to get in. We were tempted to go back to the resort pool because it looked so busy.

We were glad that we stayed because the majority of people seemed to be either sunbathing or in the wave pool so the queues for the rides weren’t long at all.

The first thing we did was to grab a tube each and do 2 circuits of the lazy river – Castaway Creek.

We then decided to get a bit more energetic and collect tubes at the bottom of the slide rides and carry them to the top – and then we whizzed down them :Pinkbounc

We started at the left had side with Keelhaul Falls (individual tubes), the Mayday Falls which was the same but a bit bumpier. The family tube ride – Gang Plank Falls was next on the list so away we went – I prefer the Blizzard Beach version of this.

We all had a go at the Storm Slides – body slides – which empty you into a 3ft or so pool. How do you land without going underwater? Because I sank both times!

Humunga Kowanubga was next for me, Enz & Gabs. This is 3 slides in tunnels which are literally straight down, cross your arms and ankles, wedgie giving slides! Did this twice and couldn’t keep my ankles together as I got nearer the bottom – very graceful :earboy2:

We went in the Surf Pool for a while then had lunch at Typhoon Tilly’s. Hot dogs for the boys, chicken wrap for me and a tuna s’wich for Gabs (this isn’t on the menu but they had one on display), and we shared a big bag of crisps and some coke.

Nothing too strenuous straight after lunch – Castaway Creek for ages until we all felt cold! Then it was back to the surf pool for Enz & the kids whilst I sat on the side drinking coffee and trying to dry out a bit. Anyone else notice how the coffee seems to get hotter in those insulated cups and the refillable mugs from the resorts?

We left at about 4.30 and drove back to the resort in our swimwear wrapped in towels – that’s the benefit of having a car :teeth:

The kids wanted to eat at Rainforest Café or Chef Mickey’s. So….. let me make a PS for Chef Mickey for tomorrow, our last night. Nothing available. OK how about tonight? CM - ‘Yes we can get you in at 8.50’ Me – ‘great!’ We went through the info taking:- name, resort, room number, ages of kids etc 5 minutes later…….. CM – ‘ ooops I made a boo boo, I put 27 November in, not October! There’s nothing available’ I wasn’t surprised at the lack of availability but though it was worth a try anyway.

I asked it I could make a PS for Rainforest Café for tonight – for some reason they can only do this for the one in Animal Kingdom not the one in Downtown Disney. We could get in at 6 – it was now 5.30 so I left it.

I call Rainforest C in DTD but they were only taking walk-ins. We wandered round DTD after seeing the long line to get into it.

Gabs suggested we eat at Red Lobster so we went to the one at Crossroads. We shared the lobster pizza again. Gianni had chicken strips & fries, Gabs grilled salmon & fries, Enz – linguini and shrimp & I had broiled king prawns, scallops & a white fish together with veg. I thought the food was ok and the service was very subdued. We had to wait quite a while for our drinks order to be taken and then again for the food order. We were left waiting for our plates to be clears and for the check to arrive. $58 + tip. Red Lobster in St Pete’s was so much better and if we’d eaten at the Crossroads one first we wouldn’t have been in such a rush to go back again – shame because I remember enjoying our visit here on our last trip.

Lights out at 11pm. Alarm call requested for 7.15 tomorrow morning – have a feeling we’ll sleep right through.

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Really will need to visit a water park.

Lovely report again.

We usually head to water park first thing when we go in February and this year we were intending to do the same thing. However, it is obviously a lot busier in July and we found that hitting the normal parks as soon as they open allowed us to do all the rides we wanted quickly. We thought it would be a bit of a waste to use an early morning to visit BB so changed it to a park day instead.

We never stay at the water parks longer than a couple of hours in any case. We visited BB at about 5.30 pm instead on a couple of occasions and it was very quiet, no problem with lines or going on Lazy Creek. This might be a suitable alternative idea for any one wanting to do parks as well as a water park.
