Our journey to the airport went very smoothly and we were most impressed with our flight. We disembarked our plane and went to collect our luggage. It arrived very quickly and Yasmin loaded it onto three trolleys. I could not see over the top of my trolley and knocked Cuthbert over. What are two bruised heels between loved ones! Well we then discovered that we had to put our luggage on another carousel and then WE had to take the monorail to the main building. I had read about the Disney monorail on these boards but this! Oh the shock, it didn`t even have a seat. Yasmin, bless her, could see I was getting stressed and kneeled down on the floor allowing me to sit on her back. We collected our luggage again and were bussed to car hire. I felt like a sausage in the factory with all this transporting.

When we got our white car we could not fit all our luggage in. There was no other option. I would have to hire one as well. I chose red because it is my favourite colour. It is a very pretty car. The only drawback was they had no right hand drive cars. This surprised me, after all the Americans have everything! Cuthbert took the children with him and Yasmin came with myself. I thought it was most sweet of the Americans to welcome us to their country by tooting their horns and waving at us as we drove past. It was an even bigger surprise when the police pulled us over. They wanted to welcome us too. WRONG! Apparently we were driving on the wrong side of the road. I don`t know what the problem was.

We were most delighted when we arrived at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The bell boy unloaded our luggage and we headed to check in. I enquired about Mary Poppins looking after the children. You cannot actually hire the characters but they did tell me about the mouseketeer club.

Our room is most luxurious although a little small for five persons. We will be very happy here. We went for a look around after Yasmin had unpacked. We found an adorable little man playing the piano. We sat down on the sofa to listen to him while the children ran around to burn off some energy. Dixie tried to help the man play his piano. Seems he did not require any help. Then Yasmin realised Amos was missing! She reported this to the hired help and the search began. I stayed at the sofa incase he returned and finished my drink. The piano man was very relaxing. Amos was found quickly at the monorail station, bless him. He has always had an interest in trains.

After all this excitement we all went to bed. Looking forward to visiting the Magic Kingdom tomorrow for some magic.

Love always
Veronica

Veronica,
Loved your report, of course!

A couple of questions, though. Did you fly commercially or in your own private jet? If by a commerrcial airline, did you fly First Class, and if so, what did they serve you for meals? Was the flight long and did they play a good movie?

We have the same problem with people greeting us in Europe whenever we pop over there for a relaxing weekend - we've actually had people volunteer to drive for us, isn't that sweet of them??!!

What size of room do you have at the Grand Floridian?

It sounds as though your vacation is off to a great start. Can't wait to hear what fun Dixie and Amos had at the Magic Kingdom and on the Safari at Animal Kingdom!

Dixie I am glad you made it to the GF all in one peice. I am sure that you will enjoy your visit to WDW. I am looking forward to your next installment. Have a great time at MK!

Thanks for posting. Totally understand your confusion of what side of the road you should be on. Thats why we don`t hire a car.

Look forward to your next report.

Thank you for sharing the details from the first day of your trip. I look forward to reading the rest although I have a lot of questions for you about the first day. I would love some more details about you room. Did you get a suite or connecting rooms? How large was the suite if that is what you booked? Did the children and Cuthbert like the hotel?

Look forward to the rest of the report.

Great report Veronica. Look forward to the next! :)

Dearest Verornica,

So glad you hopped the big pond safely...I'm also glad you enjoyed your first Thrill Ride.....here in the states we call that a "Highway".....Highways are very different from the carriage ways your used to....there are not little back roads like the M5.:jester:

Glad you made it okay! Can't wait for part II!!:bounce:

Yasmin sounds a dear, veronica. You are lucky to have her!

Looking forward to reading the rest of your reports! off I go!
:D

Veronica,
How inconsiderate of the American people to drive on the OTHER side! In your Ladyships case I feel they should make an exception?
