I recently started watching this in syndication, and I am so hooked! I am currently in the fourth season, and I have read the episode guide and see that Pacey and Joey will break up at prom, can anyone tell me why? Thanks!

I need to add this as a disclaimer: I am WAY TOO old to have gotten hooked on this show in reruns.

OK, I think it had to do with Pacey not being able to compete with her "perfectness." Or something like that.

March-May 2003 I was home on maternity leave recovering from a c-section and taking care of a newborn. I watched every single episode of Dawson's Creek while I was home and quickly became addicted to that show. I had quite a crush on Pacey. But I can't for the life of me remember what happened at their prom.

I am also way too old to have been hooked on this show, but I was. Pacey broke up with Joey because he saw her life moving out of Capeside and felt he would hold her back. At least that was my take on the break-up, if memory serves.

he felt he was competing with perfectness and not up to Joeys standards (like other poster said) so he broke up really horribly at prom. I have seen the TBS shows for about a year now.i was too so addicted to Dawsons Creek.

I've actually seen the series finale so I know it ends good, except for Jen anyway. I think that is what really got me hooked, wanting to know the history behind all of what was going on. Even then when Joey was deciding between Dawson and Pacey, I was rooting for Pacey even though I didn't know their background. Watched sporadically before and caught episodes from many different seasons. Now I am really addicted and watch both episodes each day from 10am -noon. I work nights so I just stay up to watch it. It's good to know that I am not alone in my addiction. My husband will even watch it with me if he is still awake. It's such a great show I can't believe I didn't watch it during it's original run.
