I'm cheap. I know , shocking, isn't it??? I have read dawn power wash is water, dawn and alcohol. I've looked at at least 6 videos, all with different proportions. Same ingredients, different amounts. So who do I trust?????? Dis people of course.

Basically you pour a little isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol into regular blue Dawn dish soap. The alcohol disinfects while cleaning & it also helps break down some substances better than the Dawn alone. I don't think it matters very much the amounts. It works either way.

I've seen bunch of water, small amount of dawn and tiny amount of alcohol, but in all different amounts. Trying to not make it 20 times. I'm sure too thin or too thick and it won't foam.

I got a coupon at a good price for some when it first came out. It reminds me of something you might use to clean the BBQ and way more powerful (and expensive) than necessary for daily kitchen cleaning. As I recall, the list of ingredients showed denatured alcohol first along with several other chemicals I didn't recognize. Maybe you can find a label of those ingredients on their website but obviously they won't give you the exact formula.

Depending on what you are trying to clean, I think there are many products to choose from in the grocery store. Generic cleaners seem to work as well as the brand name ones. Many brand name products just have a higher price to cover their marketing costs. I can recall one of the best BBQ cleaners I have ever used was the generic Walmart brand and WAY cheaper than anything else.

Always gives me trouble breathing, the fact it has alcohol makes sense.

When I have an annoying something to clean like baked in hardened pans I often pour some automatic dish detergent in the pan to make it soak. My mother in law taught me this trick but she used the expensive stuff for everything, not me dollar store worked for soaks for me.

I don't use the mix I listed as a spray. I can't use aerosols or sprays as I have problems breathing them too. So, I tried spraying the real Powerwash once, and it nearly burnt my sinuses. So, I put it in a pump bottle that liquid soap came in. Or I'd use the same bottle the dish detergent came in and just add the alcohol and pour it out exactly like regular dish detergent. No fumes but same cleaning & disinfecting power as spraying Powerwash.

Thats a great idea, I have an unscented bottle but it still bothers me. I only have it because DH likes it but the breathing thing really bothers me.

To be fair, I haven't actually tried a specific one, or I would have recommend it (or not). I did get as far as buying the Dawn. People over there seemed to be raving about it, so...
I don’t think it’s quite the amazing product that you see on commercials, but it does have its uses. Sometimes a product is so good it’s worth every penny. This isn’t it, thus trying to find the homemade version which I think will be good enough.

I've never tried making my own, but I would suggest using Dawn Platinum over regular Dawn if you make your own. I know some have never strayed from original blue Dawn, but we've found Dawn Platinum to be the superior product when washing dishes. So, when I buy Powerwash, I buy the platinum version. For what it's worth, I usually use it on laundry and leave the regular Dawn Platinum for my dishes.

I've only used the powerwash on things like a bacon tray or the basket from air fryer. For dishes, we just use normal soap. But for other cleaning, I've used the powerwash. I think part of it is the spray foam. Cover a bigger area without drowning it.

We've found the platinum liquid to be potent enough that you only need a little. DH bought the industrial size from Costco, so I haven't been tracking my usage. Back when I was buying standard sized bottles of Dawn Platinum at the super market, I was going through one bottle every 6 months. The PowerWash spray is part of my laundry supplies, but I feel like I'm using more with the spray. My younger one plays softball and if she needs it for an exposure event or I'm feeling like a domestic goddess 🤣, I use it on her white uniform.

There should be a law....no white uniforms. What do the pros do. Toss the uniform out after every game?

I have the same question for naval officers. Every Memorial Day the navy ships 🚢 come in for R&R during Fleet Week. I see dozens of naval officers running around in their white uniforms and not a smudge of dirt on them. This can be a really grimy, dusty, dirty city. I don't know how they do it. 🤷‍♀️

Here's the funny thing with white uniforms...I hate cleaning them, but it's a good way to see which kids were really putting in the work on the field.

There are all kinds of rumors as to what the pros and colleges use, but never any confirmation...just a lot of pricey bulk products that may or may not work. I suspect they usually have a lot more uniforms for each player than most of us have at home. One of the most effective tools is a pressure washer, but I don't always have the time for that. So, I have a whole routine that involves Zote, Dawn Powerwash, Oxy powder, and if it's really bad...grout cleaner! I'll admit that I don't try as hard when we travel since we don't have the luxury of soak time, but I have been known to stand over a hotel washing machine with a bar of Zote and a cheese grater! :D

What about Disney custodial CMs? It's always seemed weird to me that the CMs with the dirtiest job have white uniforms.

I once spotted a poor CM crawling under the door of a bathroom stall because some punk kids through to would be funny to lock a bunch of them then crawl/climb out. 🙄

For a laundry boost, take a facecloth and put some regular blue Dawn on it (I make a couple of swirls or a smiley face with the Dawn) and throw it in with your laundry. Works great! And no, it doesn't make a ton of suds.

Well yes, but nothing beats kids with the ball lost in the outfield someplace, sliding into first base, second base, third base, home and maybe into the dugout too. Half the stains they get, are while sitting on the bench.
