Is that on St. Martin? And is it on the French side or Dutch side?

It's on the Dutch side. We went after being told it was a family beach. Not a bad beach if you like waves. A bit strong for my then 3yr old. There were some topless sun bathers, middle aged to grandma types.

It is a very nice beach and not to crowded,in factwhen we got there in May 2004 there were probably 15 other people on the beach.But I second the part about the waves.Be very careful when its windy,I was hit by one when I got out of the water.The result was a ripped innerband on my left knee and therefor not as much fun on the remaining part of the cruise as I had hoped for.
But the beach IS beautiful.

Thanks for the info. I had heard about this beach but then did not see anything listed about it in the travel book I recently purchased.

The leg is finalyy better.
The beach is very remote,we found it by chance.There is a Bar where you can park your car and then it´s only e few steps away.

Nice, fairly quiet beach....quiet as in not many people. But, the waves were VERY strong. No way we could snorkel. The water wasn't safe the day we were there for anyone...child or adult. But the restaurant/bar had a bathroom for use, the people selling items were not too pushy.

I finally did find some info about this in my travel book but the funny thing is that it says it is the best snorkeling on the island. I think that is weird with how strong you all are mentioning the waves are. Thanks for the info though!

The best snorkeling is exactly why we went there! But, no snorkeling for us. Aparantly the snorkel area is out a little ways, over a reef. But the waves were far to strong for even the adults to get over them to the place. No snorkeling right from the beach here.

We have been there twice and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! But we also loved Orient Beach. I guess it just depends upon what you are looking for. Dawn's Beach was just SO beautiful and not crowded but like others have posted, it does have alot of waves but that's one of the reasons why I liked it (because it was different). I can't imagine snorkelng from the beach though. Enjoy!
