Hi all , we are silver and a party of 7 , how difficult is it to book the 12noon glacier boat excursion at dawes? What are my chances if I login exactly when the booking window opens? FYI it’s for a later august sailing, thank you

We were also silver on the August 22 and both times were sold out already. You can keep checking and you might get lucky but 7 is a lot. To be honest I’m so glad we didn’t do it! I think a lot of the information out there makes you feel like you have to do it. My DH who really does not like to travel said that day on the ship with our family was one of the greatest days he’s ever had. No matter what you will truly see some beautiful things that day regardless of what boat you are on.
We did not do the excursion. I really enjoyed being on the ship. It was a magical day. I am sure it’s a great excursion but you are missing some of one of the best days on the ship. Don’t stress. There are lots of amazing excursions you can do in port.
We booked a cruise last summer after the booking window was open for all categories and the glacier excursion was sold out. We kept checking and never saw it drop in. The day we embarked we were sitting by the pool and I decided to check the app it was there so we grabbed it. It was expensive but well worth the money.
We did a mid-August sailing this past summer, silver and party of 5 and were able to book the first glacier tour without a problem. We made sure we were paid in full and were online as soon as silver booking opened.
In our case, we were so glad we booked the excursion and it was a highlight of our trip. It was a bit drizzly and there was a lot of ice in the water, so being on the smaller boat gave us a much better view of the glacier than we would have had on the boat.
The characters are out on deck for much of the day. When we sailed at the end of July, we had the noon excursion boat and characters were up on deck for photos in their Alaska gear starting before 10am. This was our third Alaska cruise, doing the glacier excursion won't mean missing characters.
