Hi Guys, Our first post on here. We are going to DLRP for the first time with our four children ( 12,10, 2 and 1) on the 16th December for a week. Very excited now!!
Just a few questions;

We are staying at the davy crockett ranch in one of the two bedroomed cabins and wondered if there was a safe or something to keep passports etc in. If not in the cabins, is there anything available in reception and if so how much does it cost?

Is there a kettle in the cabins?

Just wondered can you make a packed lunch and take it into the park. Will you get strip searched at the gates

Also we want to go into Paris for the day. Not been a train for a long time and not too confident with where to get off and trying to locate correct train to get back to DLRP. How easy is it to get to Paris and back on the RER without being too traumatised??

Many thanks in advance
The very excited Law family

Paris via RER is very easy. Get on the RER at the train station by the parks, get off at either Auber or CDG-Etoile. Etoile is by the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees. Auber is by the department stores, Opera, and a short walk to the Louvre, etc

Going back, get on at one of the RER A stops and make sure that you take the train to Marne-la-Vallee/Chessy. The overhead sign will show the stations lit, so if that is not lit (it is the last stop) do not take the train. The following train will go there instead. It takes about 45 minutes to get back to DLRP

If you have a particular destination in mind please do post and I can suggest which of the various stops is best. I tend to walk a lot in Paris, but you can also take the metro to various stops. For instance, if you want to be near the Eiffel Tower, take RER A to Etoile, transfer to metro line 6 and get off at Trocadero and walk across the river (Bir Hakim station on the line 6 is closed until March; that is the usual Eiffel Tower stop)

There is a kettle in the cabin and in fact a whole kitchen, minus an oven.

We have never tried to take in a whole packed lunch but we have taken in snacks without any trouble. I don't think Disney are too keen on people taking in cool-boxes.

Enjoy your holiday.

Hi again, Thanks for replying. You have eased my stress levels abit bavaria Thankyou. We were thinking of getting the RER to CDG-Etoile then walking to to the Eiffel Tower then on down to the Louvre then on down to Notre Dame then on to Gare de Lyon to catch the RER back to DLRP. Does this sound pretty foolproof? Thanks also Dead-metal your answers too were very helpful. :)

Hi The Law Family and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

In some of the newer cabins there is a safe but if not valuables can be left at reception :)

Yes you get a kettle in the ranch and can make up food to take into the parks :)

We took drinks and snacks in and the bag search people weren't bothered. There are 'no picnicking' signs though so anymore than a small coolbag of snacks (which we've taken in when DD was little) would probably be frowned upon.

This is actually what I suggest to newcomers to Paris! The only caution is that it is a very ambitious journey to go all the way to Gare de Lyon on foot from Etoile. You may want to take the train from Auber instead. As I don't know the ages and stamina of your party, I can't comment.

I would do that walk myself. If you do get tired, you can take a metro part of the way. It really is easy to take the metro, if you follow some pieces of advice. Always look up to ensure that you are taking the correct entrance and stairs and tunnel and exit to your destination. Don't feel the need to rush - most people in the station are rushing to work etc but take your time to ensure that you take the correct train.

And you may be surprised that people are actually willing to offer assistance to travellers. I have done so myself many times (well, I refuse to offer assistance to those who are shouting at the ticket sellers in the misguided belief that shouting in their own language will make them be better understood :rolleyes1 )

Have a great trip!

Hiya
we stayed in a 2 bed at Davy Crockett earlier this year, and there was a safe in the bedroom wardrobe. Also yep there was a kettle -ours didn't work though so we boiled a pan on the hob - no problems - Kitchen is nicely equipped. Ours included a dishwasher (so took a few finish tablets with us)

The POOL IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!

There are characters around at various times of the day near the shop/pool area. The restaurant buffet can also be recommended - especially the dessert buffet. Even the breakfast (you pick up from a little hut near the entrance to your "camp") is well worth the effort. MMMM fresh WARM croissants+ french bread etc...

Only problem we had really was we found the bed in the double bedroom to be VERY uncomfortable, a bit too hard, so put the sofa bed mattress on top -not possible with all beds taken...

And did I already say, the pool is fantastic!! The kids would have stayed in there all day
Cheers,
Tessa

We've stayed in a 2 bed cabin & in 2005 it didn't have a safe but we felt security was Ok & didn't bother using the facilities at reception,

We too love the pool at DC & use it at least once a day.

remember parking at the parks is free & in the multi storey at the Disney village.

Can't remember the bed being uncomfortable but i suppose it depends what you are used to at home
