I checked my local supermarket, Waldbaum's, and they don't carry Davinci products. Where, besides online, can I buy this stuff? Maybe someone from Long Island point me in the right direction. Also, how does this compare to Splenda in recipes?

Thanks!

just bought some at Walmart today in the coffee aisle :)

I think it was $2.34 for a smaller bottle.

I can't believe you found it at Walmart. I'll try there. Thanks binny. I love to shop online but hate to pay the shipping. If I can't find it at Walmart I guess I will get it online then.

Another company - Torani - makes similar products which I've found in Albertsons, Safeway and World Market stores. It is also Splenda sweetened. I saw Davinci for the first time ever at TJ Maxx in their gourmet aisle yesterday.

Not every WalMart carries DaVinci... it's usually only in the Super WalMarts, and usually only in vanilla and raspberry in the sugar-free.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls often have limited bottles in limited flavors for $5.99 for the large bottles. I've seen vanilla, french vanilla, chocolate, irish cream, caramel, white chocolate, amaretto, raspberry, german chocolate cake, and a few others in the sugar-free.

Torani is a good alternative. There are other sugar-free syrups on the market, but most of the others are made with aspartame. OK for flavoring coffee, but not for cooking/baking.

If you have specialty coffee shops (Boston Stoker, etc.), you could try looking there, though they're often pricey ($8.99 or so). I think Starbucks has their own brand, and I think it's one of the aspartame syrups, but it wouldn't hurt to look.

I've also seen sugar-free DaVinci at my local health food store (though it's ridiculously priced - $9.99/bottle!).

The sugar-free DaVinci's have silver bands around the neck. Last time I saw them at TJ Maxx, they had a different label, but same silver band, and still said it was made by DaVinci.

You can also go to www.davincigourmet.com... they have online ordering, they also have a feature to find a DaVinci dealer near you.

**edited to add: If you look for it in larger supermarkets, look in the coffee aisles.

Also - you can use it in recipes where the extra liquid won't matter... it works great in sugar-free ice cream, some muffin and bread recipes, cheesecake, that sort of thing... you use it cup-for-cup the same as sugar (and taste for sweetness... sometimes you still need to add a little Splenda, stevia or something else). Plus, you save 24 carbs for each cup of Splenda you can substitute for (Splenda granular has 24 carbs per cup, the packets have about 1 carb each... all from the fillers they use. The syrups have no fillers, and no carbs! :) )

The Walmart in Cleveland, Texas carries the small bottle of DaVinci vanilla and raspberry. The Walmart right off beltway 8 in Houston (Woodforest) has no DaVinci syrups, sugar free or not. Go figure.

I order mine online from www.netrition.com :)

I'm going to have to place a netrition order. Their prices seem very reasonable, even with the tax and shipping. I wish they had a retail outlet- they're 10 minutes from here.

Even though they don't advertise a retail outlet, you might drive by and check or call them... There is a Revlon factory in Phoenix, and it does not advertise it, but they have a company store that they open to the public a few days a week. I used to get Almay and Revlon products for 1/3 of their retail price. I miss that place!
