Has anyone used David's rental to "add on" to an already booked (I am a member) DVC trip? We have a 6 night trip to the Grand Floridian booked in June and are thinking of adding 2 nights at the boardwalk at the beginning of the trip (don't want to dip into next year's points).

Has anyone done this before? Is it complicated?

That isn't actually adding on to your existing reservation, just a regular rental from them.

It would be a completely new reservation. You would have a 2 night reservation and your 6 night reservation. Your 2 nights, everything you want, requests, Magical Express that member would have to take care of.

As stated above it is totally separate. We rented distressed points at the last minute (less than 2 weeks out) to extend our vacation last May from the timeshare store. We stayed for 4 days at BLT on our membership then transferred to SSR for 3 days-since we already had made Magical Express reservations and received our luggage tags/confirmation from them already I simply called them directly (the number in my envelope) to change the return flight pickup information. I did this once I had changed the flight and had the 2nd reservation number to provide to them. Just like a split stay Disney will transfer your luggage and refrigerate any cold groceries at bell services during the transfer. If you have specific requests for room location you will have to have the other owner make them all you can "request" are the options avail when you check in online (or at the desk on check in day) and obviously like any other DVC rental it will be non refundable. For us the ability to rent distressed points at the last minute and extend our trip 3 days was well worth giving up control of the reservation.

Thanks. Is it an easy process to go through? It will be a separate ressy, so what about linking tickets, etc?

You will get your reservation number from David's that you can then load into MDE. If you have a ticket with enough admission days to cover all days of your stay linked to your MDE account you can prebook your FP at 60 days.

MDE is the collection location for all your things like hotel, dining and your tickets. But you don't link tickets to a reservation. The reservation is linked to you just as tickets are linked to you etc. All you would have to do is take the reservation number provided to you and link it to your MDE. Your tickets you could buy direct or thru a reseller and link to your MDE.
