David's DVC Polynesian Question

Hi everyone! I hope I'm doing this right, long time lurker, first time poster! I was just wanting to get a feel, as this is my first time renting DVC. We are planning a trip May 2024 and will be booking at the 11 month mark, in hopes to get a Poly studio for 6 nights. In everyone's experience who's rented from David's, has the Poly been easy to secure at the 11 month mark? I know availability is not guaranteed and the pandemic messed with a lot of things, but I'm super curious. Thanks so much

We just bought a resale Poly contract in December and we had no issues booking a lakeview studio inside of the 11 month mark for our August trip. Now that we are inside the seven month mark, its a different story. Based on other DVC members' posts, the Poly shouldn't be difficult to get a studio, whether its standard view or lakeview, at 11 months.

Poly will be a piece of cake to get at eleven months in May. Realistically, there isn't any rush on that one - other than book it before the seven month window opens (and even then, I'd give you odds on getting that reservation).

The fact that you're on here this early means you know what you're doing. If you put in your reservation request at 11 months I guarantee somebody will be able to fill it for you.

I don't think you'll have any trouble with Poly availability at 11 months out. We're not owners, but repeat renters (often through David's) and the only time we've not gotten our first choice at 11 months out was trying to get a standard view at BWV.

It's worked out extremely well for us.

ETA: I do think your chances are good for getting what you want in May (especially if you're looking at the first two weeks of May), but if for some reason they can't find you the points at Poly, they will help you find something that meets your needs (assuming that it's not Poly or bust).

Totally agree that David's customer service is great. They are so quick to respond and explain everything so well! And yes, it is within the first two weeks of May! Definitely not Poly or bust, just our first choice!

Poly is easy to get both at the 11 month mark and the 7 month mark, and May is not a high demand time. You will not have trouble.

Edit: I agree with earlier posters that you might have trouble finding someone with poly points to rent. However, if you are going in May, at a time other than Memorial Day weekend, I really think you’ll be able to rent at the 7 month mark without a problem (and at a lower rate) using anyone’s generic points. May other than Memorial Day weekend is historically a very low season. If it’s Memorial Day Weekend you are travelling, you still might have a shot at the 7 month mark, I’d say it’s 50/50.
