Anyone else use them? I picked up my dress and it looks like they rolled it in a ball and sat on it! I had been planning to use a local seamstress for alterations, and DB refuses to steam my dress unless I use them for alterations. I spoke with the store manager and told her I am getting it altered elswhere, and she insisted it MUST be done at her store. It is over an hour from where I live and they have already stood me up for 2 appointments. She said they will not steam or press the dress unless I pay them for alterations, because it is not included with the price of the dress. I can't beleive the condition my dress is in, instead of being excited I am really hoping it looks normal once pressed!!! I did take it home since I did not really know what else to do. I swear that place is like the worst!!!! Seriously, I wish I knew how to post pics, my dress looks awful. I have an appointment next weekend with my seamstress and she is insisting it will look fine once she is finished steaming it.

Sorry, just had to vent. I can't believe this is the condition they would sent a dress out of the store in.

I got my first dress from David's Bridal (I ended up getting a different one), and my bridesmaid dress. We had a HORRIBLE experience there. they completely lied to us several times about something, and when we contacted the manager about it, she didn't really care, and she said she didn't care if she lost us.

i bought my dress at davids. the service is hit or miss. the place i bought the dress at was lousy (had to pay $10 dollars for a garment bag - that ripped - to get my dress out of the door in!) but i went to another one closer to the wedding date to reevaluate my dress and they were beyond lovely!

complain complain complain and go up the food chain to do so. you don’t have to do anything with them. but most likely another bridal store type place won’t alter one of their dresses.

good luck i’m so sorry!

David's Bridal is like the Walmart of formalwear. I had a very negative experience there for two maid's dresses for weddings I was in, and the respective brides were treated badly considering the money that was spent, as well as the business that they brought with their bridal parties.

If you take the time to look at the designer gowns out each year, you'll see that each popular one is copied (but not well) at David's, and sold under one of their exclusive (read:generic) names, at a price that really isn't much of a discount. they do look very similar to the designer gowns from far away, but the difference is in the fabrics and workmanship.

I am going to a local seamstress. 2 of my coworkers had their bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses done by this woman. She does an excellent job and is close to where I live. I'd rather pay her double than go back to DB again, but it also just happens she charges less, too.

My fiancé bought all of her bridesmaid's dresses at the David's Bridal in Toronto and we had no problems. We bough 6 dresses and they all came in with in three weeks, plus one of her bridesmaids had to exchange one of the dresses and she did it at a store in Ottawa without any problems.

Did you order it online, or through the store? I am using them as my back up if my first one doesn't pan out. Anyone know of any other sties online that are legitimate?

I think if I went to pick up my wedding dress and it looked like they rolled it in a ball and sat on it I wouldn't take it, I would also think steaming a dress would be included in the sale price? I mean really, you're picking up a brand new dress and it looks like rubbish?
Maybe your seamstress can refer you to somebody who can steam your dress, good luck, I think after the wedding i'd be picketing their store...

I hate David's Bridal and always try to warn other brides about their crappy customer service.

I tried on dresses their and was prepared for the worst. Turns out, their worst was far, far worse than what I expected!!

I'm so sorry for all the ladies who have had to deal with them!

You pay for the dress when you order it, so I was already out the money. There are no returns or refunds. The manager did not care at all, she basically said if I do not pay them for alterations then they do not care because they already got my money. The seamstress is going to steam my dress after altering it.

And for the record, I refused to sign the slip saying I got my dress because I was unhappy with the condition and they have left me 3 messages demanding I come pick it up they do not "store" dresses for free. My fiance thinks I should go in and try to pick it up again and cause a fuss when they can't find it. I am not planning to do that, but it does make me chuckle every time they leave me a nastier phone message to come get the dress.

Do not do business with them, they are the worst! You have to pay when you order and then just "trust" them to get it right.

I went to the store. The sales people were very pushy and rude. I had to ignore every gut instinct I had, but well, this was my budget. You get what you pay for. I tried some resale shops and had more luck and much better service there but never found a dress I really loved.

I tried some used dresses from Craigs List and found a few cute ones but found brides are unrealistic with what they want to sell a used dress for. If you paid 800 for your wedding gown brand new, then altered and wore it and never had it cleaned and the bottome is all dirty, it is not worth 700 used. :rotfl:

A few reasons why I didnt look at Wedding dresses or bridemaid dresses there....

I hope you will call and let them know you are not satisfied. Good Luck!

Please, get your dress out of David's Bridal and have it pressed and altered somewhere else. I did not purchase my gown from DB but a friend of mine did 1 1/2 years ago. They did a terrible job on the alteration, completely made the dress unwearable. She put up such a stink that she did eventually get her money back but she had to go get a new dress one week before her wedding. Which she did from a little local shop and they did a wonderful job getting her a dress right off the rack and did all the alterations to perfection.

If that is really the dress you want, just bring it to someone else to do the alterations.

Linda

Interestingly, I had a great experience at DB. They weren't pushy, they let me take as much time as I wanted. I bought one dress, wound up exchanging it for something totally different (hadn't been worn, altered, etc) and they were completely cool about it. They went out of their way to apply discounts, call promptly, answer questions....I had zero complaints.

I did not, however, use them for alterations. Their prices were ridiculous. I went to a local seamstress and paid a third of the price and got wonderful results.

Maybe it depends on where you are? I'm in Dallas, maybe it's just the general hospitality? (I'm not from here, so I notice how much nicer folks are here!)

I'm very happy with the experiences I've had at David's.

When my best friend got married we got all of our dresses there and they came in quickly. The seamstresses did a great job on the alterations.

Then when I went looking for my vow renewal dress, the ladies were super helpful, very patient, and I adore my dress. I also got my headband at a different David's, and they were great, too. I got the dress and headband on sale, so that was a bonus for my small budget.

I'm sorry other people have had problems, but I'm a satisfied repeat customer. :thumbsup2

I also had a great experience at David's. I went there several times to try on dresses and had to great fitting sessions. One of my best friends just went there a few weeks ago for her dress and we had another great experience. I guess it's just hit or miss.:confused3

I was not looking to go to David's for my dress but, I just so happened to find the perfect dress at their website. I sat on it for weeks but, it was all I could think about. I made an appointment and brought along my mother and two bridesmaids. The service was amazing. I tried on tons of dress and still went back to that same dress. Much to my surprise, it was included in the $99 sale. I was sold. The only thing I was concerned about was that it wouldn't zip up entirely in the back. Since it was discontinued, it couldn't be ordered anymore. I bought the dress anyway (if I couldn't lose any weight up there, it wouldn't be much of a loss). I never did lose that weight but, their brilliant seamstress worked wonders and the dress fits like a glove. I was beyond thrilled.
I know that they seem to get a bad rap for their service and I've heard some horror stories but, I have to say that I had top notch service from everyone I encountered there.
It's a shame they aren't more consistent.

I live just north of Dallas! Which DB did you have the great service at? I got a BM dress for a wedding I was in at the one in Lewisville and my experience is fine except the store was a little small. I have an appointment at the one in Frisco in 2 weeks! I'm hoping they are one of the good DB's because they have 2 dresses that I LOVE!

Hey Disneygirl! :)

I'm in Plano, and went to the one in Frisco. :thumbsup2 I thought they were fabulous. They were very sweet and accommodating, and helped me locate a piece I wanted they didn't have in-house, etc. Have a blast!

I also had a great experience at Davids. My wedding dress came in within 2 weeks when I was told 4. All of my bridesmaids dresses came in as promised, flower girl and everything else. Alterations for my bridesmaids were done at one store and mine at another which was closer to me and both places were awesome. My dress was perfect and looked amazing when I picked it up.
