Hi all I am in the process of trying to rent points from David's rentals for my vacation to Hawaii next year. I have been thinking long and hard about purchasing DVC but thought maybe I should stay at a resort as I thoroughly research disney vacation club.

David's rentals has said they do not have aulani points as of yet to rent me the 4 day studio standard view room in may that I want and will not be able t do so until later in the month. That is fine but I an beginning to become nervous as to whether David's will have points in a timely manner or at all.

My question is has anyone had experience with David's rentals and aulani reservations and how successful where you.

I was unsuccessful booking with Dave's for Aulani too. That prompted me to just buy Aulani even though I've never stayed there before. I think I'm a control freak and need to control my own reservations/destiny. Good luck!

May is a long long time away I would give it some time. You can always booka cash room at Aulani if it hasn't worked in 6 months or so

We bought at Aulani in Hawaii while on the Fantasy last year - for the specific reason that we wanted to go to Hawaii. Rest of DVC was just a bonus for us. We recently added on and we haven't even been there yet.

As of today, even if you own at Aulani, you can only book for arrivals through May 4, 2014. David rented my OKW points to someone staying at Aulani. I guess it depends on what time of the year you are looking to go, but even if you were an owner you can only book 11 months out, so you are going to have to give it some more time. Lots of people on these boards have successfully rented points. Good luck!

DVC'96 makes a good point. But I will counter that most Aulani owners are new to the DVC thing, so we're eagerly using our points for ourselves. It seems like most of the folks who are renting out points have been members for a while and they're ready for a break from their annual Disney vacations. If I'm right, it will take a few more years before Aulani points are available for rental in significant numbers.

Also keep in mind the standard view studios are often the very first to go as they are the lowest point requirement. When we tried to book that category for our stay last August it was full up. The lowest point category available at 7 months was a Pool View studio. Since you are trying to book for May you might have better luck but you may want to consider giving them more than one view category, as that will up your chances of being able to get in.

Aulani points are very hard to come by right now as it is such a new resort so Davids also might have better luck at the 7 month mark when other resort points can also be used to reserve a room.

Best wishes for a reservation for you! Aulani is amazing!!

I was able to book an Island View room at Aulani at the 11 month window for next February using David's Rental. It took about 1 week for him to find someone with the points, but we are all set for a 6 night stay in Feb 2014.

We actually live on Oahu (hubby is in the Navy). I have been watching the Disney site and Davids' for the number of points I would need, etc. I would save quite a chunk renting points, but like others have stated they are rare :(

They weren't as helpful with me. They just told me they can't get the points and that was the end of conversation.

Well from the lengthy email I received it seemed like the representative was saying the same thing to me. I think after many years of pontificating it maybe the time to buy Aulani from DVC. I LOVE HAWAII and can for sure see it as a every 2-3 year trip so it may behoove me to buy a small amount of points.

I think that's a wise choice. I just closed on mine and already booked one trip. During the three months in escrow prices have gone up. I really feel that I'm already ahead. Cash bookings at Aulani are expensive.

I haven't rented from David's, but I just rented my points through David's to Aulani. They were great to work with. Sounds like they don't have enough Aulani points as mine were rented in less than 6 hrs! I stayed at Aulani last year using my DVC points. It's nice, although I couldn't stay my whole trip as I waited too long to book (approx 3months prior to my trip). It books up fast but I love having my DVC points:-)
