David Letterman's confession tonight..

I agree OP! Never really liked him. Add these affairs with some of his employees as another reason to dislike the guy. :sad1:

He said the he had sexual relations with women. And at least he came out clean and told on the plot, he didn't tried to covered it up or had his wife at his side with his sad face like many other had done it. I like David, like his sarcastic humor, his show is fun, he is an entertainer and a good one. He cheated, yes is wrong, that is between him and his family, with employees? Well that is nothing new.

So, he has had sex with women he met at work. We haven't heard anything from the women. I expect it will be just another somebody wanting money. I give him credit for not trying to hide it, for coming forward and admitting it.

Dave's never been my fave personality... just grates me the wrong way. But I admire the way he stood up and made a public stand against the blackmailer. So many public figures tiptoe around like they're perfect angels. It had to take a lot of guts for Dave to put out his own dirty laundry on national t.v.

This is nobody's business except Dave, his wife and the women he slept with.

It doesn't matter to me if he cheated on his wife, if he had affairs with co workers o whoever, that's is his and his wife, family business. He didn't assault anyone, or rape anyone, he cheated oh god! Please, so all those senators or whatever they are, I can't keep up anymore.

But its ok for him to go on TV and joke about cheating. Hey everybody does it right??? (audience laughter). He's a narcissistic pig.

:thumbsup2 And joke about having sex with his employees....I think it's also CBS' business as well as him, his wife and the women.....seeing as he's their boss and all. They could be liable if these women decide to sue for sexual harrassment.

Why does every celebrity have to be a role model? Dave is a comedian who has his own late night talk show. My kids don't even know who he is.

IMO this is between Dave, his wife and the women he was involved with. Maybe his employer if there is some sort of fraternization policy. However, I believe Dave might be one of the entertainers who owns his own show so I don't think he or his employees are employees of CBS. CBS just airs his show. Of course I'm no expert on the legal agreement of the Late Show.

I tend to dislike blackmailers and extortionists more than I dislike misogynistic pigs.

As an aside, I do have a friend who happened to be in last night's audience and here is his quote from his facebook status "don't believe the TV pundits. I was in the Letterman audience last night. For better or worse, the people in the crowd were very supportive of Dave." This guy is a pretty well respected news reporter so I trust his read on the situation.

Bingo! As a parent, I look to be my child's role model -- not some celebrity or athlete. What some stranger does with their personal life is of no concern to me.

I couldn't possibly care less. I have always liked David Letterman and still do. He never claimed to be a role model for America. he's a comedian, and he's only human. He came out with it, and I applaud him for that. His personal business with his family is none of my business though. I'm sure they will handle it.

<The producer who blackmailed him also happens to be living with a woman David slept with.>

Actually, WABC reported that the blackmailer used to live with a woman who worked for Dave. Perhaps another source has more.

Agreed

This is the woman he had the relationship with, his assistant who appeared quite often on the show, Stephanie Birkitt. She is the girlfriend of the extortionist, Robert "Joe" Halderman. He is a longtime producer on 48 hours. They had recently split up and he retaliated by going after Letterman.

Hope that link works.
According to Huffington Post, their sexual relationship ended prior to Harry being born and long before Dave got married.

So basically he had a consensual sexual relationship with an adult female during a time when neither of them were in a committed relationship. Perhaps we should save our pitchforks for a better candidate.

So what's the big deal? If he had affairs with some women he worked with, why would the blackmailer think anyone other than his wife (who has been living with him over 20 years but hasn't been his wife all that long) would give a darn enough to make shaking the guy down for $2 million even nominally effective? Something else has to be going on here. Either that or the guy is so ticked off about Letterman having a long-term affair with his girlfriend that he just did something collossally stupid.
