I just wanted to post a positive story. We were booked to arrive on the 21st for 6 nights at AKL standard view . We have been working with David’s since March 11th. We gave them multiple dates we were available and told them we were flexible with dates. Today we receive confirmation we got rebooked for 5 nights in August with a savanna view.

Jusf wanted to share that they are helping and we just needed to be patient to get a resolution. We are more than happy :)

Thanks for sharing. Nice to hear something positive. We all hope the situation improves soon.

Happy it worked out for you! I've wondered if David's can accumulate a slush fund of points from reservations that are cancelled and offer those points to renters. The points from cancelled reservations probably go back to the owner though.
I was only offered to rebook in April or May and there is certainly no guarantee that they will even be open by Memorial Day. (I refused to rebook in April or May) If Disney does end up giving consideration to any unused, unrebankable points then my owner's will have at least 70% of my payment and their expired points that DVC may work out a deal on. (Hopefully, DVC does work out a deal) But Yes, David's is politely attempting to be the middle man.

Probably dealing with an owner who used a June UY to make your first reservation, and only has till the end of May to use the points.

Policy on expiring points is changing day by day right now for owners.

That's great! I have a renter scheduled to check in on April 2nd. I have been waiting to hear from David's, but nothing yet. I would like to rebook them ASAP. They are current year points that don't need to be banked until 7/30, so I am very lucky that I have a lot of flexibility to offer a renter before the banking deadline.

The problem is that points from cancellations don’t belong to him, but rather to the owner so it would not be any different then securing a new reservation from any owner offering to book a reservation.

I have also read some first hand knowledge elsewhere that the broker is not sending the 30% to owners whose renters had check in dates during closure...which would make many owners reluctant to re rent,,

David doesn't own those points and can't do anything with them except ask the owner to make another reservation.

I can report a positive on the owner side with David's. I had a renter set to arrive on March 21. I was using my March, 2020 points. The renter didn't wish to rebook. They were hoping for a refund. I canceled the reservation and asked David's to find a new renter. The points from the canceled reservation are now rented and the original renter has been fully reimbursed, including David's commission. I will receive the final 30% of the new rental when the new people check in. I am lucky that everything fell into place. I do not mind waiting on my 30% as I always think of it as bonus money. (The original 70% paid my annual dues.)

I am hoping for this outcome. I don’t actually want to cancel but want to book for same time next year as I have 2 college students with different schedules and breaks (we have a mid May booking). I’m hoping it’s possible to just rebook for next May. Do you think that’s a possibility?

Next May can’t be booked until June of this year..,11 months in advance. The points used for your current reservation may expire before May 2021.

So, the only thing you can hope for is that he has an owner in June who can rebook for you at the resort you want. If he doesn’t, then you would have to wait until he does, or until 7 months out when all points can be used,

Depending on the resoet you want, there may or may not be rooms left at that 7 month mark.
