I posted this on the Transportation Board, but wanted to post it here too, since I know a lot of Canadians drive along I-75 to Florida. I'm especially doing this since I just responded to a post and realized that some people find the overall tone on some of the other boards to be very aggressive, so limit their reading to the Canadian Board!

This is just a heads up for those of you who take the I-75 to Florida. Dave Hunter's new edition of "Along Interstate 75" (14th edition copyright Jan 2007) is available from his website www.I75online.com. He also lists American and Canadian sources (but I'm not sure that they're in stores yet). We purchased two copies of this book and his "Along Florida's Expressways" book from the website, and we received our autographed copies in about a week.

I can no longer even imagine taking this drive with just a CAA trip-tik! It's a terrific book for those of you who take this route, and it really makes the drive seem shorter. He tells you all chain gas/food/lodging at each exit, plus info on local radio stations, evacuation routes, alternate routes, etc., etc.

My apologies if this has already been posted.

Cheers,

Thanks Cindyann..
I have the 2003 copy that we have used every year since. I think it's time for a new one! I know they have built up alot of new restaurants and STARBUCKS along the way now. We are not going until March so hopfully I can find one at the CAA store.

Hi. I also have that book, but a couple years old. I just love  it. DH would rather have the CAA, but basically knows the drive off by heart.I am going to save now and get the recent copy for our trip next March, our DD's can always use the older copy on our way to compare the updates.

We will be getting alot of use out of ours today!!!!!!!

Is it true that the book is only published every 2 years instead of each year? :)

I agree - it is a wonderful book. We had it along with our CAA trip tik but the Along 1-75 book is full of entertaining tidbits about different things along the way. It really kept us entertained!

It is our "bible" for driving down and I wouldn't even consider driving down without it. It paid for itself so many times over that we have used it over and over and again!!! It is fun to read along the ride and the flip pages are very easy to time our drive and also to plan stops for snacks and meals as well. My 12 yo DS loves it too, it makes the ride go quicker for him too. JMHO!

Sorry guys, this is actually my post, but my DS forgot to log himself out of his profile!! I don't know how many times I gotta tell him!!!

I love that book as well even though we have switched to flying only! I still look at the book to remember family trips from when I was a teen!

Oh and CAA --- I just LOVE the new feature of being able to creat your own on line!! Perfect. You can get it to tell you funky tips/trivia etc. Plan a route that will avoid tolls -- You get the picture.

Sammi - Yes, it seems as though the book will now only be published every two years. It sounds as though he will be updating the I-75 book and the Florida Expressways book in alternate years.

Dave has noted that 331 exit services have gone out of business and 430 places have appeared as new business since the last edition - about a 22% turnover.

Yes! Tim Hortons and Starbucks locations are noted, too. It seems like Tim Hortons is only in Michigan and Ohio, for the moment.

This year when we were driving I-90 and the Mass. Turnpike, I felt really lost. Every time they would show restaurants at an exit, we'd think "So, is this the best choice? How far until the next exit? Maybe the options at the next exit will actually be worse!" The Dave Hunter book removes all of that waiting and wondering. You can tell the kids that there's a TGI Fridays in just 12 miles.

Cheers,
