Daughter wants to work at WDW

Thanks again for all the good wishes. For those who have done this (or had children that did) is it true that she will have to wait a 3 month probationary period before she can get any family or friends into the parks for free?

Also we are thinking of driving her down there (more room for her stuff). Is that what most people do? I know she needs all her clothing, toiletries, bedding, towels, etc. But does she need any major items like lamps or tables?

Also, we've read that she can get 50% off certain rooms at the resorts at certain times (when she stays there) and 40% off when she doesn't (family and/or friends only). To get the 50% off does she actually have to sleep in the room or just register us in herself?

I'm sure I'll have many more questions!! Thanks for the help!!

Hi CJ,

Yes you will have to wait 3 months, and they have a limited number of free tickets. Our son ended up giving them to friends that visited, and we ended up paying for tickets. The discounts are room only, so that rules out any packages e.g. using the dining plan.

Most of the IP/CP workers fly rather than drive, but they quickly find out where Walmart is for bedding etc. In fact the same bus that takes them to work, also makes a stop at Walmart once in a while. Lamps, tables etc are in the rooms, TV's, DVD players are not, but often the apartments will already have people living in them that own those things.

I thought the best room discount was 40%, but I may be wrong. In theory they are supposed to stay in the room with you, but as long as they check-in who is going to know what happens after that.

My parents came down after I had been there about 2 months with lots of extra stuff. Lamps etc don't bother with. You'd be amazed at the crap those apartments will accumulate.

Yes it's 3 months before they will get their Main Gate Pass. I believe it's 10 or 12 days with 3 people max per day.

My DD only did the ICP from May-Aug so she didn't have to wait for passes. They were limited though and I think she could only take in up to 3 at one time. We managed to benefit from them tho...which was great!

I think the room discount varies..dependant upon time of year, availability and what Resort. We got 50% if memory serves me correctly and that was in July and again in Aug at PO/FQ and The Beach Club respectively.

Hope everyone has fun!:dance3:
