My roommate and I didn't do it immediately, we did it till about a month before I think? We had met on Facebook and met up a few times before to see if we were compatible(we lived a half hour away from each other). I don't know how the new site is, since it's been two years since my program. Also my roommate was the one who matched us up, I just had to go in and accept that I wanted to room with her.

Yeah that's what I did. I met all 3 of my roommates on facebook around April and then in June we were able to do the roommate match. All you had to do on the site was get each other's IDs that were in the acceptance letter and send the request. But again, I don't know how the new site works.
