DAS with Type I Diabetes

Just wanted to share my experience with DAS registration this morning. I'm a type I diabetic and during our last trip in Sept '22 I noticed it was pretty tough to keep my blood sugar up where it needed to be due to all the activity. I always carry snacks but I'm not sure I could carry enough to keep things steady all the time. I had to leave a line more than once to go get a dole whip (I know, what an awful problem to have :) ) to fix the issue and I even found that I was eating whole meals without bolusing. After our trip I found out about DAS and decided to sign up for our December trip. It couldn't have been easier. Did the video chat and briefly explained my experience with lines. I didn't get into diagnoses or anything (I happen to be in a wheelchair as well but that didn't seem relevant based on my understanding of DAS) and just explained the line issues I had experienced. DAS was issued and we booked our advance choices. All in all, I was impressed with the process.

That's great to hear! I'm heading out in two weeks, and my pancreas has been a pain-in-my-butt recently. Definitely going to take advantage of the DAS just in case I have some horrible diabetes days!
As s T1D who’s been denied DAS every time, I just want to warn you that OP’s experience is not universal. Some cast members will approve and others will deny. I’m not saying you shouldn’t try, I’m just saying that it’s not a guarantee. I’m not trying to be negative; I just hate to see anybody be as unprepared as I was the first time I was denied.

It all depends on how you phrase your needs. I know we can't go into specifics on the Dis.

To a degree, sure. But it also depends on the CM. I’ve known people who described their needs exactly like mine and were approved. And I’ve known other people besides me who haven’t been approved, despite using the same description.
