For those who park hop; can you get a DAS return time from a different park that the DAS holder isn't at? eg: DAS rider is at MK, but party linked at AK and asks for return time at Pandora so DAS rider can take their time getting over to AK in a few hours?

Better yet, can Guest relations do this so a runner doesn't have to physically go to AK to get?

At Disneyland, we're able to cross parks without issue, just don't have the experience with WDW

Nope, the DAS holder has to have their ticket scanned in to show that they are in the park. Won't work otherwise. I didn't think that you can get a DAS while in the other park at Disneyland either.

DLR/DCA works differently than WDW. I assume it may be because the 2parks are so close together.

Enjoy your vacation!

That is weird. I guess more people hop back and forth. Seems like a good deal.

I’m guessing that’s the reason.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are very close to each other.

The only 2 WDW parks guests can walk between are Epcot and Hollywood Studio; it’s about a 20 minute walk (or you can ride the bus or the new Skyway).
WDW advises allowing at least an hour to get from one park to another, so getting a DAS Return Time at another park would be much more difficult than at DL.

I often describe it in terms of Epcot. Disneyland would be Future World and California Adventure would be World Showcase. The distance between DL and DCA is about the length of the walkway between Future World and World Showcase. I'm a slow walker, but it takes me less than 2 minutes or another way to put it is it's less than 150 steps between the two parks.

What OP can do, though, if physically possible, is join the entire party at AK, get the return time, then go back to the hotel. Then join the entire group back at AK later.

I am not an expert but are we sure this is correct? It's been a couple of years but I got up early one morning and went to Epcot ALONE specifically to get a DAS return time for Test Track for my son. Got the return time then went back to the hotel and went to Epcot later that day to ride. No problems. Maybe it has changed recently?

I tried to get a return time one time when I was not on the park ( I am the DAS holder) my friend was told I had to be in the park to get a return time. And I tried once to get my friend on my DAS but was told no since she was not in the park

The entire party must have been scanned into the park, once they have entered for the day, then they could leave the park and the DAS holder could get a return time that includes them.

Since guests don’t scan to leave the park, once a guest has scanned to get in, the system doesn’t know whether or not that guest has left the park. So, the person with DAS could leave the park and someone else could get a DAS Return Time.

Before DAS was electronically linked to park ticket/Magicbands, it was possible to get a DAS Return Time without the DAS holder having entered the park. As long as the person asking had the physical DAS card for a CM to write a Return Time on, you could get one.

I don‘t know if it was ever possible to get a DAS Return Time once DAS was electronically linked to the DAS holder’s ticket/ Magicband.
I know it for sure didn’t work this past November for us. My daughter had a seizure, so my husband went ahead to Epcot while DD and I stayed back at the room. I texted him when we got off the bus. He tried to get a Return Time, but the CM could not get the machine to issue it; she said it was because DD’s ticket was not registering as her being in the park yet.

Update.

Sat was our HS day and we were getting close to finishing our desired program midafternoon,

we Went to guest relations and confirmed that they are not ALLOWED to issue return times at other parks (which to me meant policy issue, not technical restraint).

Had runner jump ahead to AK to get return time for the group. She had no issue getting the return time while the DAS rider was still at HS.....which I believe is the right intent.

Park hopping is just that. Sure it takes time. People do it all the time and disney promotes it even. It's a lot more time commit on transportation, but we did it twice during our trip...HS-AK. And EPCOT-MK monorail.

Would have been nice to get that return time at the other park, but can understand limiting the ease to remove abuse patterns....having DAS rider present and must ride does away most of the abuses of the past IMHO
