So this morning I got the urge to clean out my kids closet :eek::eek: LOL but thats besides the point here. As I was cleaning out the closet I came a crossed my sons paper DAS that he had when we went to Disney last year. Now I know in the past people have said keep your DAS because its easier for Disney to process a new DAS but I am wondering if this is still true or not since DAS moved to magic bands instead of paper. We will be heading back to Disney in March 2017 and just wondering if I need to keep his old DAS some place safe for our next trip to bring with us, to make it easier for the Disney people to grant another DAS. I hope this question makes sense, lol...TIA!

I was there when they changed from the paper to MB so I had the paper one with me and they did it then. I think you could do it either way you could bring the old one but they may still want to know his needs or you could just say the you son needs a DAS card and why it is not like it takes that long.

I guess what I am saying is not to worry about it just go explain his needs and just get one this way.

Yeah I have no problem explaining his needs...he's on the spectrum and can go into a full fledge melt down if having to wait longer than a certain amount of time...sometimes Disney has asked me in the past if we have ever had a DAS before...I have always told them yes, but just wondering if they can take some of the info off the paper DAS to process the DAS easier or faster for the CMs.

It won't hurt any to bring the old paper DAS, and it may or may not speed things up. Be prepared to restate his needs again anyway. If you lose the paper or forget to take it next time (I'm great at putting things in a "safe" place that can't be found when wanted!), no big deal either.

Enjoy your vacation!

I think all they need is his MB and the MB of those with him so I do not think it would be that much longer with out it

Ok great thanks! To tell you the truth I am a little nervous about the new DAS system, lol...I know its probably better, because now I won't have to go digging to find the paper DAS in the back pack to get a ride return time, but how will I know when its time to return to a certain time? Does the DAS hook up into MDE so I can use my phone to control it or at least view it? And what if I get a return time for space mountain, but then my son ends up wanting to ride thunder mountain? Can they change it in the system? I know with the paper DAS they just crossed it out...can they over ride it in the computer system? I don't do well with change, specially with something that was working for me, lol...I know this is probably a lot easier to handle with the DAS, I am just nervous, lol

DAS hooks up into MDE so you will see your return time there. They can change things as needed and if you get a new DAS return so in your case BTMRR instead of SM they just give the BTMRR from the current stand by time. The SM one will just disappear. I don't know if you have already waited X amount of time for SM with out using it if they can credit that time to a BTMRR return time.

You can review but not control.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I don't need to control the DAS I really just want to be able to see it, lol...I have a terrible memory specially when we are in Disney I get sidetracked and would probably even forget that we have a DAS return time, lol...oh well we will see how it all plans out next year, lol

I was too scared ( I do not like or do well with change)

it will show up on the app ( but you can not come back even a minute early I will try and come back about 1 or 2 minutes after the time) a few times it did not show up restart or log off of MDX if this happens if it still dose not show up go to any FP kiosk and talk to the GR CM there ( it has only happened a few time ) and I would just day I got a return time for ___ ride at about ____time and the wait was about ____ they have always take my word for it and have corrected it for me ( some have even give me the return time for right then and there even thought I had like 30 more minutes before I should have come back) if you get one for a ride then he dose not want to do it go to the ride he want to do let them know he had one for another ride and they will take it off and give him that one ( or if you forget they will let you know too, not like this dose not happen a few times a trip for me) but for the most part it is easer a few time the iPod ( what they use to scan his or your MB for a return time is not working in thesis case they will give you a return time on a little ( about the size of a business card) paper and you will use this ( I find this happens most at space mountin for me)

no they will not give you credit for a line you decided not to ride ( unless it is pixie dust ) the only time they did was when a ride broke down about 5 minute before my return time ( this was at 7DMT and the CM ask me what I wanted to ride I said space so she set it up for 5 minutes ) but like I said normally they will not and if they do it is just pixie dust

Thanks for that clarification. I wasn't sure if that was what the OP was asking when she said switch rides so now I know when people ask not to assume time already waited will be credited if the DAS holder changes their mind. So it really does make it like a regular wait because a non-DAS uses wouldn't get credit for time waited in another line if they changed their mind.

yep ( I really like the fact that they do this I work so hard in life to be as normal as possibly and I do not think that because I have a disability I should get more then a guest with out a disability yes there are days I can do more since I can have a return time ad a FP at the same time but then there are days my disability will not let me even do my 3 FP so in the end it evens out) like I said they only time was when a rode broke down and I had about 5 minutes left and I think if you are in line close to where the ride is then they may do this for the guest standing in line ( I am not sure as this had never happened to me)

also if you are in line and have to leave as long as you do not scan at the second check point then you do not need to do anything but if you need to leave after the second check point then ( and you know it is just a few minutes that you need to leave the line) talk to the CM and let them know I have had to leave lines before and know I just needed 5 to 10 minute and they have always put the ride back on with a return time of now

Yeah those at the tail end of the line usually get readmits. I was so sad because at TSMM we had waited 60 of the posted 75 but had not yet made it to the merge between FP and standby. Everyone close to or past the merge got readmits but everyone else was told sorry the ride is down and were told we would have to talk to guest relations about it if we weren't satisfied.

I didn't think that the time waited for 1 ride would be used for another ride, thats not how it worked with the paper DAS...I was just simply wondering if the ride could be changed like with the paper DAS when they cross it off. But thats good to know now if anyone asks that particular question in the future, lol...also on another note...completely unrelated to this topic...just wondering if anyone with 2 kids have ever had 2 DAS and how does that work? I have a toddler, he's coming 3...I don't think this will apply to our next trip bc my toddler is still young...anyways my kids have a HUGE age gap like I said my toddler will be coming 3 and my older son will be 10 this year...just wondering if in future years I start to have similar problems with my younger son to where he would possibly need a DAS as well as my older son who has been getting the DAS over the years...do they allow you to put both parents down for the DAS or not? Just wondering how people in this position work around it...or do they just simply have the guest with the DAS name + 1 person (and not put a specific name down)...just thinking if this was to happen on future trips I would want to ride some rides with my younger son and vise versa. I hope this is clear, lol...I can't seem to think straight today, lol

ok now that I have more time if you have 2 children with a DAS card you will be linked to both but if DS 3 want to ride small world at 12 with a 45 minute return time and DS 10 want to ride 7DMT at 12 with a 90 minute return time you can not be on both you will have to pick what one you want to be on ( think of it like you can not be in two lines at 1 time) also just because DS 10 has a DAS card dose not mean DS 3 will need one there is a age that must kids go thought where they do not like to wait and they will have meant downs dose this mean they need a DAS card no could it yes ( I hope this answers your question)

also if DS 3 rides small world then you can also have DS 10 on his das card ( but DS 10 can not have a return time at the same time)

Yes, each child may have his own DAS with the full party linked. When you get a return time, you'll be asked who is riding. Each member of the family may only have 1 return-time valid at any give time. You cannot all get a return-time with the 10-yr-old and another different ride return time for the 3-yr-old.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks so much that answered my question! Yeah I wasn't expecting to be in "2 lines at once sort of speak" lol...I am still not sure he would need a DAS at this point...right now we just get the use the stroller as a wheel chair pass and he did really well with that last time and that solved our main issue. He's a sprinter and he's small so he can fit through the smallest places and do it very quickly as well in the blink of an eye, lol...we have been working on him with that issue but Disney is whole different story with lots of things to see and it just over loads his circuits and he just takes off, lol...hopefully as he matures this won't be an issue anymore, lol. Our next trip is going to be the touchy 1 though, bc now he's old enough that hes not going to want to just sit and wait for big brother while big brother does the big rides so I really have to coordinate schedules, lol...its definitely doable, just need to have more of a strategy in place, lol

there are rides with interactive lines so if big brother is in line ( or DAS line) for 7 DMT he can do pooh that has a lot of interactive things to do. but like you said you will just have to be creative this is just like with any family with someone too little to ride something I was not a fan of roller coaster until my adulthood and my older brother loved them so my mom and I would do another ride while my brother and dad did the roller coaster ( or if there was no ride around I got ice-cream we did this because my brother could not have it)

also nape time if he can do it in the park could be a great thing to do while Big brother dose some rides.

Thats a good tip! Maybe I will make all the bigger rides that he can't go on when he usually takes a nap...not sure if he will actually take a nap or not while we are in the park though...in the past we have stayed monorail so my hubby has taken him back to the resort for naps bc it was easy, but this time around we are considering a few non monorail resorts so naps in the park might have to be an option, lol. Basically the only park that will have the scheduling conflict will more than likely be Magic Kingdom, since that has the most rides in it. We will have to wait and see what happens...First things first is they need to release the 2017 packages so I can start really planning, LOL
