DAS pre reserved times expire - FYI

Recently returned and I've been meaning to post about the updated DAS. Overall I love the new system. It's great to register before we arrive as not to waste rope-drop time and I love being able to use the app to secure DAS return times. But I wanted to mention something that I didn't know before going. Unlike regular DAS return times, the ones you reserve during preregistration must be used in their time window. I assumed they were like the regular ones and we could use them anytime later that day. Nope they fell off the app after the window. I went to the Blue Umbrella guests services and they confirmed. Not a huge deal but just wanted to point it out.

Sorry you didn’t realize before that the DAS Advance Selections made in connection to DAS video registration have only a one hour window.
It has been mentioned on this board many times since the preregistration began.

We found that they stayed in the app for a little bit of time after their one hour window, but if I added a new day-of DAS after that they would disappear. Never tried to use one past the expiration time though. They just didn't fit into our schedule all that well.

We did this once. We were using a "regular" DAS time for Slinky Dog, and the Genie+ line took forever, and our Toy Story Mania advanced time expired while we were in line. It was our fault, we thought it was like, I don't know, 1 to 2, but it was 12:30-1:30 or something. We were at the scan point within 10 minutes of the advanced DAS return time for Mania (say, like, 1:38) , and they waved us on.

Interesting. I’ve actually gotten to the attraction several hours after the time for a pre-reserved DAS and have had it honored. Certainly didn’t count on it, but never turned away.

Can you tell me, how early can you make your day of DAS selections? We are not really rope drop people, but we are staying onsite. One of my DHS days my first selection is at 9 am so I’m wondering if I get there at 8:30, would I be able to request DaS for Rise, or do I have to wait until 9 when the park officially opens?

The DAS-holder (and anyone in the party who will ride with the DAS) must enter the park first. Once you've entered the park, as long as there is a posted standby time you should be able to obtain a DAS Return Time for that day.

Yes, mine remained in the app for longer than some people have indicated. I actually don’t remember any disappearing… but then I did use them even if I was past the official DAS time.
