My wife has a heart condition that makes it so she must be moving often. Sitting or standing doesn't really help her at all and can make it worse. I have been reading that they consider this to be a mobility issue and likely will not issue a DAS, is that correct? A wheel chair would do her no good as she needs to actually move around(more than what she would be able to do in a line). If they deny it, are you able to appeal somehow? Does talking to a manager help or do they always just go with what the cast member decided?

Thank you in advance!

You need to explain why waiting in the regular queues would not work for her. Detail what might happen if she is sitting or standing still for too long. How might that impact her ability to tour the park? If the initial CM denies the DAS, you can ask to speak to a manager. The manager may or may not override the CM's decision, but there's certainly no harm in asking to speak to a supervisor.

Most lines at Disney are not single-file and, for attractions that have moving cars/vehicles, are in fairly constant flow (even on things like Soarin' you may be standing in place for about 3 minutes or so before going 50-100 feet at waiting again- waits can be longer in pre-show areas for things like the Muppets in DHS and the Hall of Presidents in MK). You can still expect a wait in FastPass+ lines, perhaps up to 15-20 minutes (with the same short progression as ride cars load/unload).

Would walking in place address the issue? If there are multiple people in your party, they can provide a bit of a cushion space for additional movement.

ANY ride can break down at any point, and you may be sitting for some time, so please be prepared.

Happy vacationing!

If she can't sit for long periods of time, avoid carousel of progress, Ellen's Energy Adventure, and all of the shows at World Showcase. If she can get by with moving around a bit, she might be able to do some of the shows, but walking constantly would be rude to fellow guests.

How long is too long for sitting? Transportation might be an issue, especially out of the parks at closing. You might want to make sure you leave way before closing, to avoid getting stuck in traffic. Also, you might want to avoid the buses, as there's no guarantee you'll get a seat, etc.

I know for me I really can not sit still even driving to Disney I am moving when I am in line I move all the time and I have never had a problem with doing it ( ok may be once when a gust wanted to be right under me).

You also need to know that rides can stop and break down I was stuck on 7DMT for about 15 minutes. Also show would be a no go for her buss at the end of the night or early in the morning lines for food can be long

As fair as appealing if you are told no. I would try without it (if they say no) then if you find it dose not work you can go back and say we have tried without the DAS and this is why it is not working

I also find that if I tell the gust behind me that I need room to move they often give me extra room to move

I have a cardiac issue that also is made worse by standing still, though not as much by sitting, and much improved by walking. I can't stand for 15 minutes, but I can walk 15 miles without issue, it baffles people to no end. I've had to resort to renting a wheelchair the past few Disney trips, and for the upcoming trip as well as just life in general (is it just me or are the lines at the grocery checkout getting longer?) am getting a rollator. As PP mentioned, for things like preshows at Muppets or Monsters Comedy you have to stand for possibly up to the entire length of the show before you, no sitting and if you do because of emergency you'll win a free visit from the "hunky" Reedy Creek EMTs.

Thank you all for the replies, and for the heads up on some of the rides/shows being longer. :)
