To the extent that DAS is now being granted primarily for developmental disabilities this actually makes a lot of sense, because a) the underlying need is unlikely to change materially in that time period and b) it allows DAS families with annual passes more certainty in planning their visits.

I think it makes sense for APs. That way they are approved for the remainder of their ticket and won’t need to worry about reapplying until it’s time to renew.

Here's a screenshot of the changed info from the DAS FAQs.
It will be helpful for AP users - even the older 240 days was helpful. My daughter was approved for DAS for our trip in October 2024 and it was still valid for our trip that we just returned from a week ago.
I think a lot of people who don't have AP will just see 'good for one year' and not notice the 'length of the ticket' language.

If a person has a currently valid DAS (set to expire 7/25), I would still need to reapply at that time, is that right? There is nothing "automatic" that it will be extended for the full year at this point, right? It was initially valid as of 12/24. TIA

That’s correct. Once you reapply it will be valid for a year assuming you have an AP.

That is my understanding too.

In the past that was what happened for AP Holders when DAS went from being valid for 30 days to 60 and again when it went from 60 to 240 days.
People were approved for whatever time period was in effect at the time they were approved. There wasn't an extension for those who were already approved before that change

Just heard about this. Sounds great esp for people who already have plans a year out.

You don’t need to have an AP (you just need tickets). We booked 2 nights after our cruise and had a Bounceback booked Thanksgiving week. When I called 60 days in advance for the April trip we were approved through Dec 4 because we already had tickets.

Now if we didn’t have Nov tickets booked then DAS would only be valid until the end of our April trip UNLESS we were APs.
