DAS if ride breaks down

What happens to a DAS if the ride breaks down? Do I have to notice it and log on to book another one? Or do they automatically change it to something else? And does this change if it was a advanced pre-book DAS or a day-of DAS return time?

If an attraction is down during your allotted time slot, you’ll be notified via the app and be allowed to choose from a list of eligible attractions you can book for any time for the rest of the day. BUT, that will count as your 1 at a time. So if it was one of the 2 you had pre-selected via the video chat, it won’t be an “extra” now, it’ll be regular. So you’ll be back to 1 at a time. Ran into that today. Of note too, when the app tells you you have a new selection to redeem, it shows you the image of MMRR. That is NOT one of your available choices. It’s exceptionally deceptive. 😡

So do i understand it correctly that if it is 1 of the 2 pre selected ones you have will loose this one if the ride is down? Because you have to then resort to the normal DAS selection?

Yes. The pre-selection status goes away and while you can use the new selection for any time for the rest of the day, it’s going to count as a normal DAS selection, I.e. one at a time.

P. S. I’ll write a thread in this in the coming days but BE SURE to screen capture each time you get a confirmed DAS selection. I cannot begin to tell you how many times mine have just poofed into thin air! We’d have a selection? And it would be gone minutes or hours later. It’s maddening! Especially if your kiddo really REALLY doesn’t understand that they have to wait for a new time because now they one you had disappeared into the universe on your way to that attraction. There are a few known reasons, but it happened WAY TOO OFTEN with them. Will write more later.

This is interesting, and not what we experienced at all during our trip in February. We had a handful of rides go down that turned into anytime return times and it freed up a return time slot. One was RotR which we could only use on that ride, one each on ToT, RnR, & TSM, which could have been used on a slew of other rides. We held them all at the same time at one point actually because each time we booked a new time at a ride, that ride subsequently went down. None were pre-selected DAS though.

We have had this happen numerous times at Disneyland. If a ride goes down during your DAS window, the DAS will automatically convert to a "Multiple Experiences" pass and will be good ANY TIME for the rest of the day, in any park, and for any listed attraction. You don't have to book a specific time. Once it has converted, you can IMMEDIATELY book another DAS, so yes, you can hold 2 at a time. We do it all the time. The Magical Experience pass will just sit there until you use it.

No, it’s the same. We just never had multiple DAS rides go down on the same day where we were holding on to more than 1 re-selection passes at a time. They are good for the rest of the day, and since you had multiples of those passes, you could use each of them whenever. They aren’t the usual DAS passes when they’re converted to the use-the-rest-of-the-day passes.

We had this happen twice last week. The first was a DAS pre-selection for Winnie the Pooh that converted to a multi-experience pass. Here is the email we received:

The second was a same-day DAS for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. This one DID NOT convert to a mult-experience pass. It remained valid for Remy’s, and Remy’s only, for the rest of the day, but it did permit us to make another same-day DAS immediately.

FWIW, that didn’t help us, as we were already at Remy’s when this happened, and we had to leave the park soon afterward. We ended up going to Voices of Liberty instead since we were already in that area.

Here is the email notice for that one:

Can we just acknowledge that it says "use at these attractions!" then lists an attraction they say is "temporarily closed". Who proofreads these emails? 🤦‍♀️😂

I just wanted to weigh in on another experience I had— I had scanned into Mine Train, it went down as I was next to go, and I waited about 30 minutes (the longest I can go pretty much with my bladder condition). I asked if I could get my time back and was told no by multiple cast members because the line wasn’t dumped. As I was walking out, everyone who hadnt scanned in was getting it converted to multi experience. Im still kind of upset about it and don’t understand why that is the policy. So I’d advise anyone just to leave when the ride goes down and get a new time!

Did you go to one of the guest services umbrellas to ask them?

This was at 10:20 pm on October 1st, I just cut my losses because the park only had 40 minutes left and lots of rides had no lines at all. I was still able to ride 3 things in those 40 minutes, any other day I would have definitely done that.

Gotcha, makes perfect sense. The blue umbrella folks are always more helpful than attraction CMs with this stuff in my experience
