DAS for Group of 7?

Hi, I usually go to Disneyland with my husband and 4 kids- which is a group of 6. Next month my husband can't go, so I will be there with my 3 kids and my friend will be there with her 2 kids. That makes our group size a group of 7. I know they limit the DAS to a group of 6, but what if you are an immediate group traveling together? I really need a 2nd adult in order to handle my son and his issues while on attraction and in lines- and I wouldn't feel safe cutting any of the other kids out of the group. Since we are an immediate group traveling together can they make an exception for the 6 person limit?

We have used DAS multiple times in the past, so I understand it pretty well, I just have never needed more than 6 before.

I believe that they truly do take individual situations into account. For example, if a family has 6 kids, they are not going to leave a couple of kids out. I would just explain your situation to them.

We have been to Disney several times since my daughter's diagnosis. Several times was just our family of 3 with the DAS; but three different times we traveled with my brother, his wife, and their two kids = group of 7. I don't know if it matters that we have traveled with this same group on several occasions, but we were allowed to be a group of 7 using the DAS each of those times. Best wishes that it works out for you!

Last time we went in April we were going to be a group of 7 and we were told the return time was only for 6 and they couldn’t change it so we would have to have someone sit out every ride. We had to select at each ride which 6 would go on it.

DAS is handled on an individual basis. When you arrive at Guest Relations, see what they can do for you.

6 is the usual number, but Guest Relations can make exceptions on an individual basis. Your situation is a pretty common one.

If it's next month, after the 50th and when it's packed, they may not be as willing to make exceptions, so be prepared to receive a no.

I've had a DAS for the last 6 years. Previously, they could make exceptions and add extra people. Last month I was told extra people could be on the DAS but at each ride they would only allow up to 5 people plus me. At 2 different rides (FOP and Peter Pan) the CMs had me use their handheld device and click the names of the 5 people that wanted to join me (names in my family sound similar and start with the same letter, that plus wearing a mask and my stutter when I'm overwhelmed caused them to have difficulty understanding me). After the 5 names were clicked the screen grayed out and no more names could be selected, just an fyi. While you may be able to add the extra person to the DAS at guest services it is possible they won't be added at the actual attraction.

What do they do if they are all minors? Do they make one child sit out of the ride? There has to be exceptions, don't you think?

We were there in August with a child who required DAS - and we were a group of 7. The parents, 3 children, my DH and myself, (the hosts). There were no issues.

According to Disney’s rules,
Guests under age 14 must be accompanied by a guest older than 14 to enter a park.
Guests under age 7 muse be accompanied by a guest older than 14 to board an attraction.

That is why exceptions are individually made, based on the individual circumstances.

The above group of 7 includes two adults, so one would go with the children and the other adult would do standby, if they don't let all 7 in. I'd be surprised if they made the group split up though. It's only one more person, and most of the group are children.

I don't know if anyone can answer that until Genie+ and the paid Lightning Lane option happens. Maybe they will let all immediate family members on, maybe any additional people above the 5+DAS holder would have to pay for the Lightning Lane. It is all speculation until the new programs roll out.

By WDW rules, anyone age 7+ can enter a queue and ride alone. However, I’m sure requests for exceptions are handled on a case-by-case basis, with the base rule a max of 6. This is largely because 6 is the max most rides will seat to keep a party together, otherwise they have to split up to ride anyway.
