DAS Chat Date Question

Hi Disfriends!

I booked a WDW trip for November 1-7 staying at CC in a 1 bedroom, and I purchased APs last week for DH and me. So, I put a reminder on my calendar to do my DAS chat on October 2nd. In booking flights, I found flights to be cheaper on October 31. I booked flights for that day, and I booked a one night stay at Riviera for 10/31; we'll check out on November 1st and we'll transfer to CC on that day.

Do I do my DAS phone chat on October 1st now? Or, do I still do my chat on October 2nd? I'm a little confused, because I'm not sure if we'll be in the parks to activate our APs on 10/31 or if we'll wait and go in the parks for the first time on November 1st. There are two separate bookings. We are DVC and both bookings are using our DVC points, so I'm not sure about my 30 days for the DAS chat.

Any advice about when I am eligible to do my DAS video chat would be awesome. Thank you!

It's 30-days from a park visit, not resort check-in.

That said... if you are interested in booking Advanced Selections, you may need to have ALL your park dates fall within that 30-day window, in which case it's 30-days from your last park day. YMMV but that is the official policy; folks report varying ability to book all/some at 30-days from first park day.

I have done split stays (one with cash and the other with points) and I have had the chat on the day that is 30 days from the first park reservation (which in my case was my resort check-in date for the first resort reservation). I have not had any trouble making advance selections for the entire stay (including both resort reservations). However, they have (in the past) required that each person on the DAS have valid a park reservation for that first day and for each other date of the stay that we wanted to make advance selections (for both reservations). On one occasion, I had to exit the chat, make the park reservations myself and then connect again to make the selections. On another occasion, the CM made the park reservations while on the chat and then let me make selections without having to exit the chat.

So just to reiterate... the date one can connect to request DAS has nothing to do with the resort stay - onsite, off-site, split stay, or whatever it doesn’t matter. The important date is your first day in the parks based on a theme park reservation. You cannot register for DAS more than 30 days prior to your first park day.

As to DAS Advanced Selections... Disney's official policy is that all park days must fall within the 30-day window. However some folks have been allowed to book Advanced Selections for their full length of visit when only the first day is 30 days out (the rest of the visit is >30 days), others have been told to reconnect once it's 30 days from their last park day, others have varying experiences of booking a few days of Advanced Reservations and told to reconnect later for more. I haven't been able to determine any particular pattern -- such as onsite vs offsite -- to attribute to the different experiences with booking Advanced Selections.

I would not expect the CMs working on DAS to make theme park reservations for you. That should be done prior to registering for DAS.

@lanejudy Got it. Thanks so much! I already have my park reservations made; I just couldn't remember how the 30 day window works. I'll make sure I do my DAS chat based on 30 days from my first day in the parks. I appreciate the help!
