DAS card

Hi I am taking three adults and 1 child with autism in April to Disney World. They are all fairly high functioning but all have their problems and are apt to have meltdowns as well as physical problems including colitis, epilepsy and heart conditions. I have read about the DAS card but it says you can only set up for one attraction at a time which will still leave me waiting around quite a bit. Does anyone know if they will allow me to two cards? I am trying to plan the days carefully but not sure one attraction is going to help much. Last time I took them we just had a sticker (I only had two then) and went in the fastpass queue which was much easier.

I would read through the sticky on the das card. If one person qualifies for the card you get one card. If two qualifies you get two but they will split the group between the two cards to prevent double dipping. Them purpose of the das is not to skip line but to virtually wait in the line until it is your turn and then to enter through the fp or exit to ride. Many people have had sucess with using das in conjunction with fp+. Also use the wait times in mde. If there is a ride with an hour wait and a ride with a 15 minute wait get a return time for the hour ride and ride the 15 minute wait ride. By the time you are done with that it will be almost time to ride the first one. Also return times don't expire but you can't get another until the first is used

:welcome: Welcome to the DISboards!

There is a thread pinned near the top of this forum WDW - Disability Access Service Card and the first post has the details of the DAS card. From what you've explained, "you" would not be issued a DAS -- the individuals you are traveling with might. Each individual who has needs is allowed their own DAS. Generally the DAS is issued to include the whole party, but in your situation with multiple DAS cards within the party, likely each would be issued for the DAS-holder plus one guest. Unless you plan to split up, it may not be necessary to get a DAS for each person. Assuming everyone rides the same rides, each DAS would need to get a return time.

As to wait times -- most people use their DAS in conjuction with pre-planned FP+. You are correct that you may only have one return-time, but you are allowed to ride standby or do other things (eat, shop, restroom breaks, etc.) while waiting for that time.

Enjoy your vacation!

We got 2 cards at AK. One for me and one for my son. I explained that there would be times my youngest wouldn't ride with me. They still only put 2 on mine and put 4 people on my son's. There were 4 people in my group.

I would say this experience is an anomaly -- whether they intentionally issued your son's DAS for 4 people or it might have been accidental -- I wouldn't expect that to occur for others. Disney has been quite strict about splitting up parties if more than one DAS is issued. It's to prevent abuse. If the full party wishes to ride the same ride, both get a return time. If they wish to split, there is that option to get separate return times.

Enjoy your vacation!

They'll split your two cards 2/2 and unfortunately, it's to prevent people from doing exactly what you want to do. If everyone wants to ride the same thing you'll need to get a return time for the same ride on each card. If the group wants to split you can each get a different return time but only 2 people can use it.

The DAS is not meant to skip lines or reduce waits. It's meant to help people that have difficulty with the line environment wait their turn comfortably.

Use your 3 FP interchangeably with the DAS return times and the MDE app to find rides that have short waits. It takes more planning than the old card, but it's not unmanageable.

What happens by the way if one person gets the Das card and says that there are 5 in the party,
Then another person gets their card, same party but later on for the same number?
This is what happened to us in July, my mom came with us and I was struggling after havibg treatment, my son has autism already had the card,
So I got mine the next day when I realised the kids would be staying out longer and doing different stuff to us.
We was issued two cards whole party on each.
We didnt double dip no need as we either rode together or did different rides.
However do they have anything in place yet that stops people doing the above for the exact reason of getting double the Time? I k.ow disney disneyland is connected to the tickets so you can't do it.

That is why Disneyland connects the DAS to the tickets.
I have no doubt that WDW will also start connecting the tickets to the DAS.
