Do any of the parks have a guest relations outside of the parks? I am wondering if I could visit a park the day we arrive in town to get a DAS so I dont have to waste time the morning of our first day standing in line at guest relations. Thanks

They all have one outside the parks however it's hit or miss to get a DAS there I got one in outside at DHS for our trip last week it was a smith fast process it's worth a try it was much better for me

I also got one very quick and easy outside DHS in September. I had to stop there anyway to get tickets straightened out before we entered a park, so figured I may as well see if I could accomplish both things at once. No problem.

Remember, the DAS card holder gets their photo taken for the card and all persons in the group are listed on the card. I don't know if all persons need to be present to get their names listed.

They don't list names, just a total number. Everyone doesn't need to be present provided they aren't going above the normal maximum.

It is no that long of a wait at Guest Services inside the park.

maybe not but if want to RD its inconvenient to spend any amount of time at guest services.

if you can get it ahead of time its that much more time you have in the parks before they get crowded.

i was actually considering asking this question myself cuz i don't feel like DAS is gonna help my situation (visually impaired and can't see well in dark lines) but everyone is suggesting that i at least get it as a just in case but i am unwilling to waste valuable time at RD so now that i know i can get it outside of the parks i will probably head to a park the day before or get there well before RD in order to get one.

I forgot to mention I needed a card for 8 the can only do it for up to 6 outside the park the CM issued me one for 6 when we went in all 8 of us had to go to guest services to get one for 8 it took less then 2 minutes to get it

Based on feedback here over the last year, it's hit or miss on getting the DAS outside of the park. I agree that you should absolutely give it a shot, but based on what's been posted here previously, it isn't a definite thing, so I suggest you be prepared to go to GS inside the park, just in case.

I went to DHS (closest to our resort AOA) just before closing hoping to get my DAS at outside guest relations the night before our first park day, but they were closed already. So I went to the entrance, told the CM that I needed to go to guest relations for a DAS card inside the park since the outside one was closed. He walked me there (I was not required to use a ticket to enter with him) and I had my DAS within 5 minutes, for a party of 11, none of whom were with me. I was quite pleased and impressed with how Disney handled my situation.

Ooh, that's good to know, nydancemom.

For our 1st trip ever, we are going to stay at AoA in January, my DD has Autism and has trouble waiting in lines and gets overwhelmed easily, so we're not sure what to expect.

On our first morning MK opens early for EMH, so we want to head straight for Anna & Elsa, but I don't want to get stuck waiting in line at guest services, so I'll try DHS.

that is not always true. and if you are going for rope drop, and trying for something like toy story or anna and elsa, etc.. it makes all the difference.

:thumbsup2 I was wondering this my last trip. we were at boardwalk, and outside of the international gateway we had 2 "chores".. one was to get the DAS for this exact reason.. who want to waste precious rope drop time waiting at guest relations in the park for a DAS?????

the other was a ticket issue.. (we were "bridging" 2 day tickets from the fall's "free" dining.. unused.. to this years annual passes .. starting april 27)
turns out we still had to go to 2 sep booths outside on the international gateway for this.
once you get a das do NOT throw it away.. bring it on the next trip.. my hubby's was kinda water logged, but they still didn't need to take anothe pic, and I think it helped in expediting the whole process.

so anyway, I'm pretty sure you can go to guest relations outside the parks, (and not use up a day's ticket) top get a DAS.. just realize at some parks you might be behind a bunch of people buying tickets, etc. but things seem to change from day to day around there....

You "can," it's just hit or miss. I was able to get one outside of HS, but they flat out told me I'd have to wait about 10 minutes for her to get the iPad. She could have easily just told me no.

Yes.
The person with a disability that DAS is being requested for needs to be present.
The normal maximum is 6; any number over 6 need to have everyone present b

a Lead or Supervisor needs to approve a number over 6 ( you may not see that person - the CM 'onstage' may talk to that person 'offstage' or it's even possible that the Lead might be working the desk, so would not need anyone else yo approve.

The Lead is usually based at Guest Relations inside the park and makes rounds to the outside one. So, it is possible that the GR outside may only be able to approve up to 6.

Yes.
the Disney information about DAS online lists the locations to obtain DAS as Guest Relations inside the park, so that is the only place guaranteed

The GR outside the parks sometimes does not have the iPad or printer available to do DAS and sometimes they are only dealing with ticket situations - like 'will call' tickets or ticket issues that prevent someone from getting into a park.

You got majorly pixie dusted.
First because they let you into the park.

Second because you were asking for a DAS over the maximum number of 6 that they allow without the whole party being present.

Third because the upper level they usually allow, even with all guests present, is 8. They may allow more in very unusual situations , such as a mom, dad, 5 children and Grandma and Grandpa. 10 in that kind of family situation is the most I have been told they will do.

An alternative, if you are not sure DAS will help in your situation, is to go to GR after the advantages of rope drop are over and the park is busier.
There is no rule that you need to get DAS right away or even your first day. You can request it at any time.

Having the old one does help s lot. There is a QR code on the card that they can read when you return. That links to a file with your information, including your picture. So having the old card makes the process faster

I was so upset asking for a DAS because I was afraid I wouldn't get one. I was sitting on my scooter when I asked I was sure they would say no. I explained my needs without using the term mobility. The CM was so nice she made the whole process seem so easy.

Just to add a bit of info. We almost always get our DAS card the day before. As mentioned, the guest getting the card has to be present (for the picture) but the rest of the group does not (although it's possible there's special rules if you need more than 6 guests mentioned). You only need the number of guests, not the names. We typically get it from guest services at MK which is outside but last trip we get it from HollywoodStudios where you have to go inside the park to get it. We usually wait a good 10-15+ minutes outside MK although I've seen it much longer. It only took a few minutes to get it from HollywoodStudios.

There is an outside guest relations at HS (each park actually has one). That's where we got ours.

Oh, I agree I had major pixie dust!!

I think they let me in because the park was closing and everyone was leaving, there was no reason for me to try to go in other than the truth: I wanted to get the DAS that night because we had a very early BBB appt. for my granddaughter the next day and I wanted to have the DAS already in hand. And it probably didn't hurt that I looked like death warmed over after two days of travel to get there with my health situation. And a CM DID walk me directly to the GR office, he sure wasn't letting me roam around.

As to the 11 people, I knew it was a long shot, but figured I'd ask. Our party was me, DH, four of our adult children plus DIL and 4 grandchildren, so all immediate family. I have no idea if the CM at GR was a supervisor or not. He just looked at my note I had written, and went to get the iPad, took my photo and I was done in under 5 minutes.

Believe me, I know it could have gone a completely different way. Just telling my experience.
