The FP+ area just gets you corralled in a different area I believe. Then the masses are let in all at the same time? From what I have read here on the DIS, Fantasmic is the one attraction that FP+ is useless.

Conversely,are there certain rides/ attractions where fp+ is absolutely necessary?

My disney specialist told me that if one of your needs is to not be in small crowded areas (common for people w/ ASDs) that you can be seated in a roped off section - does anyone know if this is true? I am planning on bringing my double stroller mainly for lines but that really won't help during shows like Fantasmic because DS9 will not be able to see the show from the back of the stroller.

I posted in another thread before seeing thisbut wondering if they still accommodate those who can't 'do' steps in the upper rows of the theater (with or without a DAS) & if you now need to wait in regular line.

I'm waiting for an answer on this too. DS isn't able to wait either in a queue or in a restricted space like the seating for any length of time, especially not in the dark and outside.
The only chance we really have for him to see Fantasmic is if he can get to his seat the shortest possible time before the show starts. We are thinking about doing a Dinner Package, but he won't eat any of the food in any of the restaurants, so $35 is a lot to pay for him to have a shorter wait-time, especially if it still isn't short enough for him!

So knowing how the DAS works for this would be very helpful in working out how we plan this...

Last time we went we did the dinner package and ate at Hollywood and Vine, but it was 4yrs ago and both my boy liked the characters there and I really don't want to waste a table service on a character meal they don't like the characters or like PP said on a meal neither of my boys will eat. The stroller is a huge help, as he sits in the back and pulls the canopy over cocooning himself, but that only helps for soo long. I would love for my younger to see it as he was only 18 mon. the last time, but I will skip it if it means avoiding sensory overload and meltdowns.

I'm wondering if you explain situation and have part of your party go in and wait while you stay with your son they will let you join them right before the show starts. I would be okay with that, not to mention separating my kids during the wait, divide and conquer always helps!!

Goofymama, that would work for us, if they would allow that. If we did the Fantasmic package, so all had the VIP passes, and the others went in early, and then we just popped into our VIP seats at the end it would be fine.

Just trying to work out whether you HAVE to be in 45 mins before or that it's just a good idea if you want good seats or to sit together.

If you have a stroller as wheelchair tag couldn't you use the wheelchair guests section? It has more space between benches (front to back) as well has not being as packed.

We've gotten permission from a manager to sit in that section before but have also sat way down front which is sometimes roped off. It's the "you're going to get wet section" though but we sit as far back as possible when we sit there which usually just gets us misted. We don't mind that.

That would be fine if we could do that, I just dont want to take away from someone who is immobile and needs that section when my son can walk just has issues with crowds and waiting. I will check out the link you posted thanks

My husband always goes in search of a manager to find out where he/she thinks is the best place for us to sit based on actually meeting our son. Unless we make the decision to sit in the splash zone because it's otherwise empty, we've always been directed to the handicapped section in the back of our dining package section. We would never just sit down there and assume it's okay. I think it's like the roped off parade sections. It's up to the CM if they think it's appropriate for your needs and it's probably a space available issue as well.

I'd be interested to know if the DAS can be used as well but we've always done the dining package for the line issue. We like Mama Melrose though so would enjoy eating there even without the package.

Sometimes they do a quick service option to get the package. You pick up a picnic type meal from Min and Bill's and you get a voucher for the show. They only offer this during certain times of the year.

It will most likely turn into a crowded, roped off area. It seems that a goal of the Fantasmic CMs is to fit as many guests as possible into each section. Also, it is first come - first served for the accessible seating as well. Using the stroller in the queue may help with the wait though.
