try having the same name as a guy who could be on your states "do not rent, do not grant credit, arrest as soon as you see him" list.

dh has the same name, born in the same year and we lived in the same area (they even went to school together ) as some schmuck who burned so many landlords and creditors, ran up so many parking tickets, skipped on so many court apperarances...it got to the point when he was in college if he got pulled over and the cop asked for id-he would start explaining to call in and speak to the desk sgt. to get the story before he handed over his i.d..

we have always had to make it very clear to potential landlords and local credit companies that my dh is not the same "x" with the same birth year and same home town as they will get huge red flags when they run a check.
luckily he has a different middle name so we make a big point of that and always have full name verification.

anyone remember the actor some years back who portrayed a major wanted guy on america's most wanted-for months afterwards people and police were giving him trouble because "i know it's you-i saw you on america's most wanted!!!!".
