Darn it all!! Long vent

I was actually having a dang good day for once. I have to leave for school in an hour, so I went (literally skipped I was so happy) into the bathroom to take a shower. Twisted the taps and... nothing. No water. Tried the sink. Nothing. Ran to the kitchen - nothing again. Even went to far as to try the hose outside. Still nothing.

I ran to my neighbor's house hoping they'd have water and let me shower. They're not home, but I tried their hose and they have water, so it's just me.

My water service is provided by the city - which is small, and there's no way that I can find to contact them on the weekend, not even an emergency number. So I can't get it turned back on until Monday, and I have no idea why it's off in the first place. I have the receipt in front of me from last month's bill saying "Paid in full" and the new one isn't even due until the 30th.

Someone's head is going to roll on Monday! I have no way to take a shower, and now I'm afraid I smell bad. To top it off, I have an interview today after school - now I'm really worried that I smell.

Sorry for complaining so much, but I really had to vent to someone, and DH is asleep. Boy is he going to be angry when he wakes up and discovers he can't shower.

do yuo know wheree your water meter is located?
it could be a burst pipe on your side instead of the city.look at the meter if its spinnign rapidly you have a leak,, and a bad one. also try calling the city hall they may have emergency numbers listed on a machine. if not, the police dept or fire dept may have a contact number for you.

Alright, went and looked at the water meter, and it's not moving at all. No spinning. Checked the shut-off valve, it has been shut off. It's got a lock on it, so only the city workers can flip it.

Called City Hall, no emergency numbers. Police station isn't open on the weekends, and the fire department said they're sorry for my situation, but don't know how to help me.

Grrrrrrr...I called my landlord, he said he doesn't think an emergency number exists. I hate living in a small town all of a sudden.

Thanks for the support and advice, I'm gonna have to dig out my perfume! Hopefully when I get home from class, it will have been magically fixed.

Not anyone in my town. I would be late to school if I did that, and today is the first day of a new class, and the interview is scheduled for 15 minutes after the class ends. The only place I could have showered was my neighbors, and they're not home.

If on Monday they try to charge me the $40 reconnection fee, they better run!

The Sheriff handles all of the weekend calls, and the calls that come in between 5pm and 8am. We don't have enough money to employ police more than 40 hours a week. Maybe once they cash the 8 million in checks, we'll have an actual police department!
