I just got a call from Expedia to tell me that the flight I had booked on Delta/West Jet Encore from YHZ to MCO has been affected as the flight I was connecting on in BOS has been changed so the times won't allow me to connect any longer.
She gave me two other options (neither of which will work for us)- one is adding in an extra stop over in Detroit and gets us in two hours later (screwing up our first day and our first dining reservation at Disney Springs) and the other is an extra long layover at BOS which wouldn't get us in until 5 hours later (totally not logical for us).
So, I now need to start from scratch and find another flight.

I guess the only good news is that Delta will give full refund if I don't want any of those options.

AUGGHHHH!

Flights from YHZ to MCO TAKE TWO!!!

Is there a yhz via yyz to mco on delta/westjet? That is what we did. It was booked on delta but codeshared with westjet.
yes, there is, but it's only 1H39M layover and I'd have to go through customs there.
I hesitate to do this in case we don't make it through in time.

I understand. I have an arrival in montreal at 625am. I leave MTL to MCO at 740. Its tight. But longer than a minimum legal connection. But still a nail biter

Yes, we did it with zero issues, had time to spare. Your bags go right through and everything is automated kiosks now. It's way faster. Every time we fly via YYZ to Florida our connections are around 1.5-2 hours.

and the fact that I'll be travelling with my daughter who is part of a joint custody arrangement makes me a little nervous to leave it a tight timeline too.
I will have all the necessary paperwork but if I were to get someone who wants to pull us aside for random check or do all of their due diligence or someone who isn't as quick as others in dealing with this I'd be super nervous of missing the flight. HAHA! I'd be so stressed I'd probably look like a criminal and will get questioned for sure! LOL

I have travelled same. But sole custody. If you have necessary paperwork it is fast and easy :) if they ask! How old is your daughter?

Try this:

Can you identify one airline as the primary airline (probably the longest flight segment) and other needed connecting flights as being with secondary airlines?

Try hand picking alternate flights of your choice and comfortable layover times with the same primary airline including from the airline's own web site and then requesting a change via the actual original booking agent (here, Expedia). Press (a figure of speech, not referring to a button) to speak with a higher up if the first person you talk to seems to have difficulty filling your request. Of course you will not agree to pay more, either for a change fee or for a higher fare for the chosen itinerary.

Thanks, I've tried this. The only way they will re-book (and make any changes for me without charging additional) is if it is an alternate flight with the exact same company (in this case Delta) and no matter where I look, there are only two other options for Delta that could work but just seem too tight for my liking.

I think I am going to suck it up and cancel the reservation, get my full refund, and re-book on WestJet direct flight a day early. It will cost me more for the flight (about 200.00 more) and an extra night rental at the property, but atleast I won't feel stressed about connections and won't be worried about delays, etc.

If it’s on a Saturday or Sunday you should be fine. Our flight to LA 2 weeks ago left YUL at 8am and going through security and US customs took us less than 20 minutes (we do have a Nexus card that helped a little at customs but wait was longer at security with it). Also, the walk between the domestic and US terminals is not bad, way shorter that what I experienced at Pearsons a few years ago. If it’s a weekday, there might be more people at US Customs because of more business trips.

yes, it is wed aug 29th. :) Hopefully it isn't too bad, fingers are crossed, and the fact that it's early...

There’s a WestJet flight leaving Halifax 6:30am connection in Toronto 2hr layover, should give you enough time, and arrives at mco 12:30pm.
I’d book myself, if something goes wrong, as it does, you deal directly with airline, not Expedia.
