I went to the podiatrist and he informs me that unless I start wearing sensible shoes, I'll be looking at bunion surgery in years to come..:headache:

So I went to The Walking Company for some sensible shoes...I like the Dansko clogs..but am very confused about the sizing. I normally wear a size 6 and have a narrow heel. The sales person told me i should get a size 37 but it is very, very roomy. I came home and look on the Dansko website and it says that 36 = 5.5/6 and 37 = 6.5/7 so did I get the wrong size.

So if you wear Dansko, what us size/ european size do you wear?

TIA

I wear up a size. I also like/wear Keens & Clarks the Artisan Collection. And I have a narrow heel too

I wear a 7.5 and a 37 in European sizes for both Birkenstock and Dansko. I would think a 37 is too big if you wear a size 6 - I would look at a 35 or 36.

I am a perfect 39, a 39 seems to run real true from brand to brand. In American sizes I range from 8.5 - 9. On the Dansko professional model, your heel should lift from the shoes with every step.

thank you..

Bumping for any morning crowd that wear Dansko?

I do- I find I am better off to try the actual pair of shoes on and not just go by size. I have a 36 that fits perfectly and another one that I bought online is too tight. I think I will have to put them on ebay. Someone told me they are all handmade and that is why they can be so different.

If you get a good fitting pair, they are SO comfortable! :cloud9:

I do but I have no clue what size I wear. I just tried them on.
BUT I love mine they are at least 5 years old at this point and rough on the outisde but oh so comfy still:rotfl:

I used to wear Danskos but haven't in years so don't remember what size I wore. What I'm wondering though is did they measure you at the Walking Company? If you were getting bunions maybe that size 6 you've been wearing was too small? I don't really know anything about what causes bunions just guessing :confused3

I have a Dansko shoe on now (not a clog but a heeled dress shoe in black suede). I wear an 8.5 so this shoe is a 39 and it is very true to size.

However, I've always had a problem with the clogs. Way too roomy for me so I can't wear them.

I am also a size six and I have dansko clogs that I wear on my commute to and from the office. I just looked under my desk and they are a size 37. Yes, they feel a little loose on the heel when you first get them but that is how they are supposed to be. I had my feet sized at The Walking Company for them.

I LOVE my dansko clogs. I walk for miles in them with no foot pain at all. I have had the same pair since 2006 and they are still going strong!

Hope this helps a bit.

Bunions are mainly hereditary. I have one forming and I've always had my shoes fit well. I have all the predispositions for them--very low arch, lax tendons, plus a family history.

I've worn clogs since I was in high school and my feet are just fine, thank you. No bunions! I wear them for both work (12-13hr shifts primarily on my feet) and casually. They are supposed to be worn loose. If they're too tight, you will have issues, but that can be said of any shoe. Years ago, when the soles were wooden, they were harder on your feet, IMO. Now they soles are generally softer and flexible.

My mother's feet are a mess. She grew up poor and her and her sisters shared shoes. I'm sure they didn't fit properly - the sister she was closest with had very narrow feet and my mother's are wide. It makes me sad when I look at her feet. Proper fit is key with any shoe.

I have a hard time with shoe salespeople any time they measure my son's feet. His foot is wide and he likes a roomy fit. Yet they always want to put him in a smaller, tighter shoe. I've gone down that path before and his feet wound up red and sore, so I just go by my gut and get him what feels right to him. I don't want him to have feet problems from shoes that are too tight. It's a big issue with me, probably because of my mother.

My fit problems with Dansko clogs and some of their other shoes stem from the top part of shoe and not the heel. I don't have a "thick" or "meaty" foot I guess. So the top of the clog or their sandals are WAY above my actual foot. I have too much room up their and my foot moves uncomfortable in the clog. It's weird.

My bunion is from years of wearing pretty shoes with no arch support. Heels, flats and flip flops.

I'm going through the same process right now. I've wrecked my feet with cute, cheap shoes and now I'm actually splurging for REAL shoes. I'm in love :lovestruc with my Born mary janes. I wear them to work everyday. I looked at the Danskos, too. I know that I'm not answering your question, OP, but I wanted you to know you aren't alone! Yay for real shoes!
