Hi Everyone!

I've been lurking for a while and thought I should maybe start my own PJ. I guess to start I should start from the beginning...

Rudy and I met while he was a LT in the Navy and I was an Ensign in the Coast Guard. He was my instructor at one of the schools I was attending in Norfolk Virginia. Contrary to popular belief we didn't become 'romantically involved' until my classes graduation when Rudy asked me out on a date. And it was history from there.

Fast Forward to our engagement this past September. Rudy and I went to Colonial Williamsburg for our anniversary weekend since neither of us had been there before. We spent the day at Busch Gardens and at night went out to a really nice dinner. When we got back to our bed and breakfast, our room had been covered in pink roses and I turned around and there was Rudy on his knee. Naturally I said yes!

Today we live in South Carolina, Rudy now works for Pepsi in Columbia and I am stationed in Charleston, and we split the weekends between the two. We have two silly puppies, our golden retrievers Jack and Lola.

The decision to have the wedding at Disney became a very simple one fast. We were originally planning to have the wedding in Massachusetts in November where my family lives, which was a great idea until every third cousin who I've barely ever spoken to wanted to be invited. This quickly brought the guest list up around 250 people which was not in any way what I had envisioned for my wedding. So at Christmas time when we were home in MA, my mom, Rudy, and I decided Disney would be a better option. 1. We love Disney 2. It might help us cut the guest list. 3. With transfer season coming up, and Rudy and I not finding out where we will be going until late April, a July wedding sounded like a better option than a November one because we also don't know what my next assignment will be.

Shades of Green became the locale because of a few reasons. First and Foremost it is very military friendly, and all but two of the bridal party are in the military. Secondly it allowed me to still invite a lot of people but still have the same feeling to the wedding I wanted.

After the wedding we are staying at SOG for a few days and then moving to an undecided resort, we are still sorting through that!

Will try to post pictures later, I'm deployed and the internets a little slow:surfweb:

What a romantic engagement story :) Welcome to the boards and congratz on your engagement. I have been hearing that Shades of Green is an awesome venue for weddings so I am sure your wedding will be beautiful. Can't wait to hear more and see some pics of your engagement ring.

Congratulations! I'm so excited for you! I got married at SOG this past August and loved it! Very affordable also! Can't wait to hear all about it!:goodvibes

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I thought since I have already tackled the proposal, I thought I could move on to the wedding and the reception.

The wedding is taking place at 10am at the gazebo at SOG followed by a reception in the Magnolia ballroom from 1030 until 430. We opted for a longer reception rather than a desert party because my parents felt it was awkward to end mid afternoon with the reception, and a lot of people are leaving early Sunday morning so we opted to go with out the desert party.

For the vision of the wedding we are going with a Breakfast At Tiffany's feel, not little blue boxes scattered everywhere but rather the overall feel of the movie.

To start we are washing the ballroom in pink, similar to this....

Centerpieces are going to consist of blush, light pink and medium pink roses with the vases filled pearls. Scattered around the vases will be votive candles on glass mirrors with gems scattered on there. For linens we still haven't made a decison but I'm looking into shimmering overlays right now. The table numbers will be constructed on top of vintage new york taxi cabs that we found on ebay. For seating cards we are using little boxes of cracker jacks because the main characters in the movie are eating them when they go to Tiffany's.

For the cake we are probably going to make that the aspect that looks like the Tiffany Boxes, similar to this cake except with polka dots...

I had my cake topper specially made by an artist on ETSY, Suzy with Nakedpeggies. She was able to put mouse ears on both Rudy and I as well as the puppies....

We are also planning to have a candy bar of primarly aqua colors or maybe vintage candies, we haven't decided on that just yet.

I hired Tamuel Cowart with Real Weddings to help with the day of and make sure the vision comes together since I will probably be pretty busy that early in the day.

Next I will tackle vendors and attire.

Oh and lastly here is a picture of Rudy and I shortly after our engagement and a pic of the puppies....
