Ah I'm going to miss the finale. I might just be getting off my plane in Manchester, UK. Not sure I'll be even able to watch it online.

Which judges comment? Seeing it time shifted & knowing the results, you may have caught something we missed.

Emma outdanced Rashad on their quickstep. It was nice but not the best. I agree with Mr Grumpy.

I really think the "Smiles don't get you gold medals" comment was the most damaging

The judges are the reason Simone is going home. They pick apart her every facial expression all the while telling us how entertaining David is. I for one am sick of not having the best dancers in the finale. Last week she was over criticized and she stood up for herself and now she gets called smug. I kept thinking back to Bristol Palin, who couldn't dance and never showed a real connection to any of the dances and the judges were much kinder to her.

I for one am sick of not having the best dancers in the finale. Last week she was over criticized and she stood up for herself and now she gets called smug. Well... it is a show and they cater to ratings, so the producers will spin things to pump them up (ie - drama). Simone showed a slight lack of emotional depth in her dancing, but a lot of that had to do with her own routines and song choice. Her comment about smiles & gold medals did come off as smug in the context of the show, albeit unfairly. Plenty of people have been voted off this show that deserved to be there (pros included that never returned), and there are a lot of internal politics that are never mentioned.

I'd rather have someone like David who has had no background in dance and who every week has got better then someone who has tons of background in dance and has a bad attitude.

I'm not sure about voting during the finals. If I don't watch it though, I think all my votes will go to Ross just because he's the underdog.

IMHO, Simone went home for her disrespectful and smug, self-centered, "Smiles don't win gold medals" comment.
She sealed her fate.
Who could vote for that.

This isn't about Olympic gold medals, and the judges are there to judge dancing and that includes the 'expression' and musicality.

She has always had high scores with the judges, even if they weren't perfect 10's.
The voters sent her home. Not the judges.
I predicted it, immediately, last week.

The judges even looked shocked and unhappy!

Even Simone's whole so-called redemption dance tonight, about showing vulnerability was nothing but a series of her gymnastic moves.

Normani has come so very far, and dances far, far, better than Simone.
Gotta love Rashaad too!

Marybet, while Simone might have the most ability with her body... That does not make her the best dancer.
At this point, Normani is clearly the 'best dancer'.

And, the judges do sometimes offer up more 'criticism' to those with the most potential.

The bottom line is, this show is also about the voters. Likeability matters. Not just who is most 'precise'.

I suggest people watch the show the way I do. Just watch the dances. I fast-forward through the fluff between, and often times even through the the judges critiques. I don't need crap like that to "sway" the vote. Either you danced well or you didn't. I don't give a hoot at smug comments, or blah blah blah. In fact I didn't even know Simone had made ANY comment. I never saw the alleged Bonner crotch grab.

The show is WAY better this way.

I'm surprised Simone is going home. I would have preferred her over Rashad.

I also think there may be other viewers like me, (and I mentioned this a few weeks back)~ that are maybe tired of the whole gymnastic routine freestyle dance in the finals. I honestly think we will see 3 very different one's, and yes Normani's will be sexy, but I prefer her more fun one's like the country one last week and her Jazz one tonight.

Yep, I also thought that Mario got 'robbed' due to the likability factor.
But that is part of the whole thing!

PS: I didn't even think that Donny Osmond came off as likeable. Several times on the dance floor he was just so into himself that he didn't even look at his partner or the audience or the camera.

If she had Laurie's personality she would be the winner.

Yes, I think the producers were hoping the could bring in the "Final Five" Olypmic gymastic team on a converyor belt and each one would win or make it to the finals. And this proved Simone didn't have Laurie's effervescent personality to win.

I didn't think Simone's comment was out of smugness. I think she quoted what her Olympic coach has probably drilled into her many, many times, while drilling her NOT to be emotional during a routine. This coaching & mentality actually LIMITED her for DWTS.

That's what I meant when I said last week, that Rossi & Simone BOTH have a championship mentality. They have both trained to be champions & have won. But, Simone's training, while that made her a champion gymnast, left her limited her in this arena. She was only following what her gymnast coaches had trained her to due. While Rossi, whose 19 extra years over her also helped him, his championship mentality is more about how to bring that, "give it all you've got," to ALL of life's experiences. If one wants to teach their kids what a championship mentality is about, have them study ROSSI in comparison to Simone, in my opinion. Simone did everything "right" & "perfect." She got all 10's a couple dances. So technically, she should have won. But, Rossi's championship spirit & mentality is what the voters voted for. (Judging by the Judges shocked faces - they would have picked Simone over Rossi.)

I see smugness....
She tried to smile as she made that comment, but the look on her face changed very quickly into something very negative.
That tight lipped look is what said it all.
No question there for me.

And all the tears and Boo-Hooing this week just sealed that deal.
Like, physically, she doesn't have a clear advantage to the other dancers, due to her years of training???
But, she is just trying sooooo hard, and she isn't 'winning' so booooo hooooo!!!! She 'just can't do it any more....'

She should be careful what she wishes for, because, she isn't 'doing it any more'.
