Maureen seemed tense

On the one hand, I kind of feel sorry for her. I think we are seeing glimpses of how she (and maybe the other Brady kids,) were treated really badly on The Brady Bunch, back when they were filming it. Artem, being strict with her, (NOT that he's doing anything wrong,) is possibly re-triggering a lot of what she when through back then. I don't think there were a lot of child actor protection laws in place back then. Nor someone watching out for their mental health. A lot of pressure was probably placed on her & all the kids. I think we are seeing that stress she was put under to do well and get things right back then. On the other hand, she's had plenty of years to get some good therapy.

Christopher Knight has said in an interview that I saw several years ago, that HE was basically made to be the one bringing in the salary for the whole family, paying the mortgage, paying for groceries, etc. (Back then, there were also no laws protecting child actors' money and putting it away in trust for them, for when they become adults.) He was more successful than his father, who was also a (mediocre) actor. Because of it, Christopher (at the interview) no longer was in touch with his parents, there was so much bad blood & resentment on his part, at them.

I can see that. And it does make sense.

I really am worried for Maureen's emotional stability. She seems so fragile, & I'm just tense while I watch her.

I'd much rather be watching Vanilla Ice.

My sentimental favorite is still Ryan.

However, I think I want James to win - he's talented & has such a great personality.

And I actually liked Gleb & Jana's dance!

The GOAL and purpose of GOOD therapy and counseling is to learn and have good coping skills, options and to stay present emotionally, ESPECIALLY when one is in a re-triggering situation. Maureen doesn't seem to have those.

Before I developed a chronic illness, I used to counsel/coach abused women. Do a DIS Search for the MANY posts where I mentioned it.

I really like James but I was kinda pissed when Julianne went on and on about him being the best male dancer ever. Hellooo, there have been several male winners and last season's winner, Nyle, was freaking awesome! I voted online for James, Marilu, and Jana. I am happy to see Amber leave but I do love Maks. I really hope Tera's next.

I think some of you are reading more into Maureen's appearance than it could be. Some people are just criers and wear their hearts on their sleeves. I can cry at the drop of a hat and often stupid Hallmark commercials get me tearing up. Crying easily or becoming upset doesn't mean she is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Maybe she's faking the whole damn thing for sympathy votes, lol.

Yes, exactly.

I tend to have an anxious, people-pleasing personality & "worry" a lot about what others think of me - if I'm "performing" okay, if people like me, etc. And, there are many times I have to remind myself to act & react reasonably & like an emotional adult, if that makes sense. ("Self, you can fall apart later at home in the shower. Right now, put your game face on!") And Maureen doesn't seem to have any kind of coping skills... she's too emotionally fragile. And, maybe because I see a bit of myself in her, it makes me really tense & uncomfortable to watch her. I am sympathetic to her.

And, when whoever was holding the pinata mirror ball was yanking it up when she was trying to swing at it, I was thinking to myself, "Do they not realize she's going to take that & totally internalize it?"

EDITED TO ADD - I will so miss Maks!!

I guess I'm the only one who thought Jana moved from one pose to another with no dancing in between. She was totally overscored. Calvin, OTOH actually danced from point A to point L (for lift ).

A little sad that Amber is going home. There are a couple stars that I think were worse.

I just LOVE James!
And, this is only mid-season.
He already blows Nyle out of the water.

I suppose he has that need-for-speed... But this guy is a very talented showman!!! I see him in entertainment!!!!

He was so excellent last night.
I only wished he had totally nailed that last ending pose-position.
His one back leg was not extended out far and straight like it seems it should have been.

While I have to give it up for that shower scene.
IMHO, James was much, much, more truly sensual and sexy than Jana!!!!

Should have been much more passion and sensuality and musicality.

And, OMG... I am SO glad that I will no longer have to wish I could gouge out my eyes after seeing Amber squeezed into a thong and tight hosiery.

I thought her show costumes were great. I think it's a positive step to show that curvy women like Amber with thighs and booties just as sexy as the much slimmer Jada Kramer. Her practice clothes ... I guess she was comfortable is all I can say LOL.

One more thing, while I love James ... I did not think that last night's performance was his best. I really wanted to love it and I was left cold. It was like he was trying too hard and it wasn't coming off as natural.

My favorites were Terra, Calvin and Laurie.
