ABC has announced that the third edition of Dancing with the Stars, the network's smash-hit reality ballroom competition, will kick off ABC's fall season and premiere on Tuesday, September 12 at 8PM ET/PT with a special two-hour premiere.
Dancing with the Stars 3 will air its first results show the following night on Wednesday, September 13 at 8PM ET/PT -- the results show's regular time period.
As the network first announced in May, rather than air on the same Thursday/Friday broadcast schedule that its second edition used, Dancing with the Stars' third season will move to an American Idol-like midweek schedule (fitting given its Idol-like ratings growth) in which its performance and results shows will air on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT.
Rumor has it that Sara Evans, Melissa Joan Hart, David Carradine, Masiela Lusha, Mario Lopez, Vivica A. Fox, Jerry Springer, William Hung, Harry Hamlin, Shanna Moakler, Emitt Smith, and Joey Lawrence will be among the stars participating this season.
There has also been many rumors about Lisa Rinna taking the new cohosting position; however, Rinna has yet to confirm these rumors.
ETA: I am very happy that this show has been renewed for a third season. I really enjoyed last seasons performances and was happy with the outcome. This season should be just as good - especially if Lisa Rinna will be cohosting!

William Hung is that reject from American Idol who became famous. Mario Lopez is the host of Pet Star and was also on Saved by the Bell. Emmitt Smith was a Dallas Cowboy football player. Thats about all I have so far.
