Dancing w/Stars Illegal moves?

OT - do you think there is anything going on with Monique and her partner? I've seen him kiss her and hold her close several times. I know they need chemistry when they dance, but when the dance is over he should back off. :teeth: He seems too old for her. Am I the only one who has noticed this? :confused3

Monique is 26 years old so she is not too young for him. I think they're still trying to make up for the lack of chemistry the judges told them in the first show.

That middle judge needs a tranquilizer! He's just a complete grouch.

Last night was the first time I'd watched the show for any length of time and I just have to say WOW, Mario is even cuter than he used to be, those dimples are amazing! :teeth:

Shelby
He was also on Nip/Tuck last week :rolleyes1 Definately not for the kids. He was in his birthday suit....all i can say is :worship: Lord..Have mercy...

The judges were in a punishing mood last night. It isn't fair to break the rules.

OT: Is Willa involved romantically with her partner? What were they talking about in their interview?

Lori

It sure would appear to be the case, wouldn't it? And MAN, who could blame her?

I don't know much about ballroom, so I am wondering if the music that they use would be against the rules? Most of the songs seem to have nothing to do with the flavor of the dance. If they can't do illegal moves it seems they should also not use incorrect music. I prefer the entertaining dances, and I really don't care if they are doing legal moves.

:wave2: Can I join in here? I thought I was the only one who thinks some of the music selections are terrible. I was wondering whether they are "given" a song to choreograph to, or can they choose anything? Some of the songs are great and really seem to go with the dance style and other I don't get at all. :confused3 I also think poor song selection has an impact on audience voting - I know sometimes if I hate the song, I fast-forward through the dance :rolleyes1

I could watch Mario and his partner dance all day long - they're really entertaining, but I was glad they were penalized for again not following the rules. He seems to be making a definite choice to disobey the rules :confused3 I felt sort of bad that Joey was penalized, because this was his first "infraction" and he didn't seem to be intentionally going against the judges. I guess the judges are fed up! It is a "guilty pleasure" show though, isn't it? :goodvibes

I think they are penalizing the good dancers because they know better. Like they told Mario last week he didn't have to do all the extra stuff because he is a good dancer that could easily get 10's if followed the rules. IMO the professional partners are the ones to blame. They know better. They know the rules and what is allowed and what is not.

I agree. The professional partners are to blame. They choreographed the routines after all...

My sentiments exactly. Just because Mario can dance doesn't mean he is an expert on the aspects on each dance, or even what the dance is. It is up to the professional dancers, who choreograph their routines, to ensure that the dance is performed as it should be. If the celebrity wants to break the rules then the professional should point out that it isn't allowed in said dance.

As for the music, there is a lot of different ways to interpret what music is appropriate for certain dances. In the end the only thing that matters is the beats in the music, if it has the right tempo to be used for a certain dance it can be. But, I agree, it is very distracting at times.

Ok, thanks. She doesn't look 26 to me. I guess now that I'm getting older, I think everyone younger than me looks like a teenager. :teeth:

Yes, but Karina DID tell him. They were arguing about it in their rehearsal scenes. Then they BOTH chose to break the rules.

I found Cheryl's hair distracting. :rotfl2:

I don't think it helps that they keep saying she is in HS Musical.

And what is with Louie's hair? He dyes it for the dance and then it will be back to normal the next day? Looks rediculous to me.

Wow! I also thought she was 19-20 - she looks incredibly young!! In fact, I was thinking it wasn't "proper" that first week when the judges told them to have more chemistry :rotfl:

She will actually be 27 in Nov. She looks so young!

Regardless of Monique's age, her partner, Louis Van Amstel is "out" in the pro dance community. He and Lisa Rinna, his partner from last year, were also very affectionate. As were Cheryl and her partner from last year, Drew. Some people are just touchy-feely.

As for the music, the pros do not get to pick their music. After the results show, the couples that are moving on get a CD with their assigned music and dance style.

My take on last night was that if they were going to punish, they needed to do so across the board. That pokey two-step that Sara Evans did was NOT a jive. It was an embellished country line dance.

Sorry - again not the original topic, but can I ask one more question? This is really the first season I've watched...

Until yesterday's show, it seemed like all the females did one dance and the males did another. Yesterday, however, Joey did the jive, Vivica did the tango, which threw off my theory  Again, are they assigned a dance or can they choose between the two offered that week?

Thanks!!

They got to choose between the two.

Entertaining as it may be, they must follow the rules. I agreed with Carrie-Ann. It is disrespectful to the judges to not follow the rules. I had the same problem this past weekend at a horse show I attended. Another trainer actually packed up and went home because we wouldn't let her use illegal equipment. She complained that it was "only a fun show" and that we should allow the infraction. Riiiiiight...

This is sooo funny! When we were watching last night, and they were talking about them not following the rules, we commented that while we thought the dancers in question looked great (since we know NOTHING about the correct way to do it), it was exactly the same as following a horsemanship or reining pattern. Part of what you're judged on is whether you complete the pattern correctly. You don't just decide to "throw in" a spin or a pivot, because you think it will jazz things up!

THANK YOU!!!!! I keep hearing how much Sara had improved and good she was getting and to me it was not much better or different than anything I've seen in an average CW bar.

I thought it was odd until I heard the moon was out in the ballroom.
